I have now completed two Dresden Neighborhood Sew Alongs. It has been fun to challenge myself with new themes and/or color schemes. I’m not sure if I’ll do another but if I do one in 2022 I would love some suggestions from you on what it could be about!
I’ll be taking 2021 off for sure so that I can take time to finish up what I started in 2020. Above are the 12 Color Blocked Dresden Neighborhoods I created. One of them is quilted and bound, another is quilted and just needs to be bound and then I have ten that still need to be finished. I’m not sure if I will do these as all individual mini quilts or if I’ll combine some together to make bigger quilts.
+ January – Classic Blue
+ February – Honeysuckle (aka Pink)
+ March – Cactus (aka Green)
+ April – Violet
+ May – Jaffa Orange
+ June – Mint Leaf
+ July – Lemon Zest
+ August – Turquoise
+ September – Molten Lava
+ October – charcoal
+ November – Caramel Cafe
+December – Snow White
And here is the Dresden Neighborhood quilt I made using the 12 neighborhood’s I made in the 2018 themed Dresden Neighborhood Sew Along. Each month I chose a different theme and created a neighborhood based on that. Kim Van Etten did the quilting on this piece and got to have fun doing each neighborhood differently. To put all twelve of these completely different blocks together I added a wonky corner using ombre fabrics to all the neighborhoods which caused a secondary star pattern. I found a great print with a bunch of houses on it for the border and it really helped bring this together. I’m not going to pretend that it’s not still an insane crazy/busy quilt but its craziness definitely brings me joy! (more details on this quilt can be found HERE.)
Let’s take a look back at each of the themes of the month and I’ll include links to any of the special templates I created.

I bought the pattern and the two additional building templates…This is super fun! I am excited about doing it:) Of course, as always, I’m about a year late to the party! Thanks for leaving all these great ideas on your blog, even though the sew along is over so that I can do it at my own pace.
