I’m not quite finished with the Molten Lava (aka red) Dresden Neighborhood for August but I’m close enough! Apple season has been INSANE this year which is awesome but I wasn’t quite expecting that with a pandemic happening and all. I DID manage to just barely get my red Dresden Neighborhood done though … just needs some stitching and voila! I honestly think I sat at my sewing machine for maybe 30 minutes in the month of September – that is UNHEARD of!
It’s never too late to join in the #DresdenNeighborhoodCBSAL – here’s the list of all the colors. Feel free to join in anytime or go back and do a previous month!

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO PARTICIPATE?
Purchase my downloadable Dresden Neighborhood pdf Pattern either on my website or etsy here. (If you already purchased the pattern you’re welcome to join in the fun. But if you look at the pattern and think you can make it without the pattern I’d still appreciate it if you purchase it since you are then supporting me as a designer.)
Fabric Scraps! This is a great project to use up your scraps! The background of each Dresden Neighborhood is 24” square but this can be pieced so again – scraps work just fine.
Me and My Sister Designs Me and My Sister Double Wide Dresden Ruler – this will enable you to easily create “double-wide” houses for your neighborhoods! It’s completely optional.
10″ Diameter rotating cutting mat (or larger but not too large so it doesn’t fit in your sewing area) – this just makes cutting your Dresden Plates easier. I have one and it’s awesome when I remember that I can just rotate the cutting board and not myself … I just have to actually remember that!
AUGUST IS MOLTEN LAVA
I’m really glad that I had the main “neighborhood” portion of this month done during the summer. My kid took over my job bagging donuts and I was able to get the roofs, doors and center added just in time – whew!
I had the perfect background fabric for this that had more red in it but it turned out to just not be big enough. I’m really happy with how the feathers turned out though … it makes it feel like the neighborhood is in a windy dream or something.
