We’re in the midst of our winter break and it’s nice to just have some days off. I’ve been busy preparing things for the 14th season of Project QUILTING and I hope you all decide to join in or at the very least follow along with the fun.
Now – let’s get back to the fifth annual Project QUILTING Mystery Quilt Along with clue 5!
Today we’re going to make some mini checkerboard patches and strips.
Clue 5 Cutting Instructions

(4) 3.5″ x 3.5″ squares
(4) 3.5″ x 6.5″ rectangles
Fabric BG2
(4) 2″ x 6.5″ rectangles
(2) 3.5″ x 3.5″ squares
(12) 3.5″ x 5″ rectangles
Construction
Layout the fabric as shown in the Diagram above. Sew together and press towards BG2.
You will have this. Make four of these rectangles.
Layout the remaining pieces into the layout above.
Sew together and press towards Fabric BG2. Make two sets of strips.
If any of your background fabric is directional please note that the six patch rectangles will be mirror images of each other in the final layout. Plan accordingly if direction matters on your fabrics.
This is what my design wall looked like after I had the first five clues done!
See you tomorrow at Noon for Clue 6 which is the final clue before the layout is revealed!
