December 26, 2021 by persimondreams 1 Comment

The Project QUILTING Mystery Quilt Along continues! I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s clue and your Christmas day. The next few days we’ll be back to normal making two blocks each day. After you finish this clue you should have seven 5.5″ x 7.5″ blocks!

Block 6 Cutting Instructions

Fabric A

(2) 3.5″ x 3.5″ squares
(1) 1.5″ x 7.5″ rectangle
(3) 1.5″ x 1.5″ squares

Fabric B

(1) 1.5″ x 1.5″ square

Fabric D

(2) 1.5″ x 1.5″ squares

Fabric E

(4) 1.5″ x 1.5″ squares

Construction

Layout the pieces you’ve cut as shown in the diagram above.

Sew the 1.5″ squares together into two strips.

Sew the vertical strip of squares to the 1.5″ x 7.5″ Fabric A strip and press towards Fabric A. Sew the horizontal strip of squares between the two 3.5″ squares of Fabric A. Press towards fabric A.

To finish this block off, sew the two sections together. Press to the right section. Block 6 should measure 5.5″ x 7.5″ at this point.

Fabric E

(4) 1.5″ x 1.5″ squares

Construction

Layout the pieces you’ve cut as shown in the diagram above.

Sew the 1.5″ squares together into longer strips.

Sew the 1.5″ x 4.5″ horizontal square strip to the 1.5″ x 4.5″ Fabric A strip. Press towards fabric A. Sew the 1.5″ x 3.5″ vertical square strip to the 3.5″ Fabric A square. Press towards Fabric A. Sew the 1.5″ x 2.5″ vertical square strip to the 1.5″ x 2.5″ Fabric C strip. Press towards the Fabric C strip.

Sew the top two fabric sections together and press towards the larger section. Sew the 2.5″ square of Fabric A to the Fabric C section. Press towards Fabric A.

Sew the two left sections together. Press towards the top section.

Sew the Fabric B vertical strip on and press towards that strip to create Block 7 of Clue 4. Block 7 should measure 5.5″ x 7.5″ at this point.

Once you have these second two blocks made please share a post on instagram with the hashtag #pqmysteryqal4 and/or in the Challenge Quilts facebook group. We want to see your progress! The next clue will be posted tomorrow at noon!

Here are the blocks from clues 1, 2 and 4. I didn’t include the block from clue 3 because it’s just not as exciting … yet.

Thank you for the QAL and for adding the letter labels to the construction diagrams. This is so much fun, I see pixels in all the little squares.
