So – what do you think of the Project QUILTING Mystery Quilt Along so far? I know the pieces are a bit small but I didn’t want a redo of the “mini” mystery quilt like the one I did two years ago … which really wasn’t mini after all. Clue 1 was also posted yesterday so once you have finished this clue you will have created four 5.5″ x 7.5″ blocks.
Block 3 Cutting Instructions
Fabric A
(1) 3.5″ x 5.5″ rectangle
(1) 3.5″ x 3.5″ square
(1) 1.5″ x 1.5″ square
Fabric C
(1) 1.5″ x 4.5″ rectangle
(2) 1.5″ x 1.5″ squares
Fabric D
(1) 1.5″ x 1.5″ square
Fabric E
(3) 1.5″ x 1.5″ squares
Construction
Layout the pieces you’ve cut as shown in the diagram above.
Sew the 1.5″ squares together into two strips.
Sew the vertical strip of squares to the 3.5″ x 3.5″ Fabric A square and press towards Fabric A.
Sew the horizontal strip of squares to the rectangle just created.
Sew the 1.5″ x 4.5″ strip of Fabric C to the top section.
To finish this block off, sew the two sections together and press towards the lower Fabric A rectangle. Block 3 should measure 5.5″ x 7.5″ at this point.
Block 4 Cutting Instructions
Fabric A
(1) 1.5″ x 7.5″ rectangle
Fabric C
(1) 3.5″ x 7.5″ rectangle
(2) 1.5″ x 1.5″ squares
Fabric D
(2) 1.5″ x 1.5″ squares
Fabric E
(3) 1.5″ x 1.5″ squares
Construction
Layout the pieces you’ve cut as shown in the diagram above.
Sew the 1.5″ squares together into one long strip.
Sew the three vertical sections together to create Block 4 of Clue 2. Block 4 should measure 5.5″ x 7.5″ at this point.
Once you have these second two blocks made please share a post on instagram with the hashtag #pqmysteryqal4 and/or in the Challenge Quilts facebook group. We want to see your progress! The next clue will be posted tomorrow at noon!
Merry Christmas Eve!

I’m having lots of fun with this one. Solids are difficult for me so fingers crossed it comes together.
