12.6 – Ab Intra – Challenge 6 of Project QUILTING Season 12

March 14, 2021 by persimondreams 4 Comments

Hi! It’s your PQ challenge mistress Trish (aka  Quiltchicken) checking in for another week’s adventure! For our sixth and final challenge of the season, I want to make sure we go out with a bang and not a whimper. So I’m going waaaay out there in mystical woo-woo territory for this week’s for inspiration, with my favorite kind of challenge: the inspirational, aspirational wordplay kind.
Before I get into the details of the challenge – a little housekeeping. Everything you need to know about how Project QUILTING began can be found on THIS page.
Every week that you enter a piece for the challenge you are entered into a random drawing to win one of the amazing prizes from our sponsors!  Be sure to check out THIS post for all the prizes up for grabs this weeks and to thank our awesome sponsors!  Our Ultimate Weekly Sponsor this week is Stitch It! Sisters! AND, if you finish the challenge in the time allotted your name will also be added into the final hat at the completion of the season for an opportunity to win one of the three (1, 2, 3) GRAND PRIZES!  Inspiration, quilting, fun AND Prizes!?  Can it get much better?

12.6. Ab Intra

This week for your project I’m asking you to look within.

Ab intra is a Latin phrase (therefore. also used in modern legal terms) that means “from within.” Its opposite, ab extra, is “from outside.”

Show us what it’s like inside to live in your unique body. What boundaries do you stay within? Who are you inside your social bubble (family, career, society)?
How about a wearable art piece – any clothes you’d like to make where you’ll end up literally inside the finished project?
Or, show us the internal spark that fires your creativity! What’s in your sketchbook or rolling around in your head?

Rule 1:

Use the inspiration of ab intra – from within.

RULE 2:

You have one week to meet the challenge. Every challenge piece must be a FINISHED project seen through from INCEPTION to COMPLETION during the challenge timeline – that is, started on or after March 14th, 2021, and posted by noon Central March 21st, 2021. Please only link up ONE completed project. It’s awesome if you make more than one but choose just ONE to link up below.

RULE 3:

Each piece must stand alone as DONE to count toward prizes.

RULE 4:

Your project does not need to be a traditional quilt, but must meet at least one of these requirements: include patchwork, include appliqué, have 3 layers stitched together by hand or machine.

RULE 5:

Incomplete or unfinished does not qualify. Every challenge piece must be a FINISHED project seen through from INCEPTION to COMPLETION during the challenge timeline.

RULE 6:

To qualify to win prizes, link up at the bottom of THIS PAGE by Sunday, March 21 at noon CDT (here’s a link to time zone converter to calculate for Central Daylight Time: www.thetimezoneconverter.com)

  • Add to the linky the URL of your project’s blog post, public instagram picture, or public facebook posting.  This post – How to Link Up a Link Up may help  you. Please only link up ONE time!
  • Alternately, by 11:45 am on Sunday, March 21st you may email a picture and description to {lapaceksorchard@gmail.com} with PROJECT QUILTING in the subject line.

Good luck, and remember to HAVE FUN! Don’t forget to post progress pictures because that’s part of the fun.

SOCIAL MEDIA LINKING:

    • Posting on social media doesn’t mean you’re linked up to this post. You MUST LINK UP to this blog post below to be eligible to win a prize.

Can’t wait to see all the entries. Wishing I played more than I work so I had time to work out n my own entry.

I find such JOY from carving out bits of time or giant gobs of time to use my imagination, creativity and hands to create and express that joy visually. I am so glad that Project Quilting challenges us to stretch and encourages creating something while leaving perfectionism behind. Thankful.
