On December 10th I put a fun little Christmas Dresden Neighborhood challenge out into the universe. Five neighborhoods were posted to instagram using the required hashtag #dresdenneighborhoodchristmas. Be sure to head over and check them all out! They are phenomenal!
And a big congratulations to wcquilter for winning the little challenge. I’ll get some fun scraps from my fabric collection put together and sent your way!
Let’s take a look at some of the great Holiday Dresden Neighborhoods posted to my “Quilt and Dream Along with Kim Lapacek” facebook group!
Gah! I’m so in love with Debbie Inglet Wolff’s Christmas Dresden Neighborhood! I love that she made it a circle and her circular quilting is incredible! I’ve done that before and it is not easy!
Carol Catinari created this phenomenal Hanukkah themed Dresden Neighborhood! The dreidel in the middle is perfect!
Tara Marie Pezzino made this beautiful Christmas Dresden neighborhood! I love the drama her fabric choices create and the santa silhouette is a perfect touch!
I love this Dresden Neighborhood Christmas neighborhood by LaDawn Dalley! The red roofs and red santa silhoutee are a beautiful, unique touch! I love the unexpected!
Patricia Hjortness Pollock made this stunning Christmas neighborhood! Love her santa silhouette and how she chose to hang and display the piece. So beautiful!
Yikes! I saved this gorgeous neighborhood from somewhere and I can’t for the life of me find where! If this is your neighborhood please leave a comment and I’ll add your name and credit! The gold stars in teh sky and the stunning quilting makes me swoon! Fantastic job!
Donna McIntee took a Dresden Neighborhood workshop from me this past summer and enjoyed making her halloween themed neighborhood so much she then went on to make a Christmas themed neighborhood! Seeing everyone’s versions of my pattern brings me more joy than I ever imagined it would.

Missed out on this years challenge? I’ll put it out there again next Christmas … and I’m giving you more notice this time! In fact – if you have any holiday themed neighborhoods in the works or finished … let’s start a special holiday themed challenge.
Post them on instagram tagging me by writing @persimondreams and then use the following hashtags for the different holidays:
- #DresdenNeighborhoodValentines
- #DresdenNeighborhoodStPattysDay
- #DresdenNeighborhoodEaster
- #DresdenNeighborhoodJuly4
- #DresdenNeighborhoodHalloween
- #DresdenNeighborhoodThanksgiving
- #DresdenNeighborhoodChristmas
- #DresdenNeighborhoodNewYears
As each holiday passes I’ll pick a winner to win a group of scraps from me that are perfect for making more Dresden Neighborhoods. If there are other holidays you think I should create a hashtag for leave a comment and I’ll add it on!
