WOOT woot! It’s finals week! Time for #6 of our 6-challenge Project QUILTING series!
(BTW – this is Trish, your resident PQ challenge designer).
You DECIMATED my logophile heart with your abecedarius projects last week, but for this week I covet something different …
this is Kim popping in and the definition of logophile is … a lover of words.
Before we get to this week’s challenge, a few notes:
- Every week you enter the challenge you are entered to win a prize from our sponsors! Be sure to check out THIS post for all the prizes up for grabs this week and to thank our awesome sponsors!

- Let’s not forget we have PQCelebrity – Sherry Shish is joining in the fun!
THE CHALLENGE: PQ 10.6. Craving Chocolate
It’s one of the world’s favorite treats – and it’s a rich, luxurious color that makes a great neutral. Yes, I’m talking about chocolate!
A majority of quilters will admit to being chocoholics, and they can’t really help it. I mean, the name of the tree (Theobroma cacao) means “food of the gods.”
Here’s a bunch of fun facts about chocolate! (link: http://mentalfloss.com/article/57507/20-things-you-never-knew-about-chocolate)
And while color trends come and go, the wide-ranging shades of chocolate brown are always a good choice. It can look traditional or very sleek and modern: It’s wood, it’s leather, it’s wool and it’s all kinds of animal prints.
So take that as your inspiration this week, and dig in!
THE RULES:
- Whether you choose the candy or the color, your project must be inspired by chocolate.
- Projects need to be created during the week of the challenge (started on or after March 17, finished by March 24).
- Your project does not need to be a traditional quilt, but must meet at least one of these three requirements: include patchwork, include appliqué, have 3 layers stitched together by hand or machine.
- Incomplete or unfinished does not qualify. Every challenge piece must be a FINISHED project seen through from INCEPTION to COMPLETION during the challenge timeline.
- Link up at the bottom of THIS PAGE by Sunday, March 24 at noon CDT (here’s a link to time zone converter to calculate for Central Standard Time: www.thetimezoneconverter.com)
- Add to the linky the URL of your project’s blog post, public instagram picture, or public facebook posting
- Alternately, by 11am on Sunday, March 24 you may email a picture and description to {lapaceksorchard at gmail dot com} with PROJECT QUILTING in the subject line. Yes, one hour earlier because it requires work for Kim.
Good luck, and remember to HAVE FUN! And don’t forget a snack.
