With the last Project QUILTLING Challenge coming tomorrow I have one last #PQCelebrity to announce. This is one of my favorite new things in Season 10 of Project QUILTING. It’s been fun to see the “celebrity’s” take on the challenges and see what they can come up within a week. I’m super excited about this week’s #PQCelebrity – Sherry Shish of Powered by Quilting. Sherry will have just one week to start and finish a quilt per the Project QUILTING Challenge requirements – just like you!
I thought it would fun to be a little interview so you all can get to know your #PQCelebrity a little better before the challenge!
MEET SHERRY SHISH
K: What is your favorite thing about quilting?
S: I love cutting and piecing my quilt tops. I also really love the community that quilting creates with those around the world.
K: What is your favorite color to incorporate into your quilts?
S: My favorite color to incorporate is blue, but I have quite a few rainbow quilts.
K: Do you have a secret tool that you love to use when quilting?
S: My absolute favorite tool is the Clearly Slotted Trimmers. To me, it’s better than the BlockLoc Rulers for trimming Half Square Triangles. I do recommend spraying the back of the ruler with Grippy to help stabilize the ruler when cutting.
K: What do you like to snack on while you sew?
S: I actually don’t snack while sewing… I am trying to think of the last food that I’ve had in my sewing room and am coming up blank.
K: Do you have a favorite sewing beverage?
S: Coffee and water! I like to sew in the morning on the weekends and I definitely need coffee to wake me up! However I’m terrified of spilling my coffee on my projects, so it’s kept on the bookshelf faraway until I’m finished. Other than my cup of coffee a day, water is a staple in my sewing room to keep hydrated!
K: Have you ever participated in a challenge before? If yes, what was your favorite thing about it?
S: I did the first challenge in season 10 and it was really fun! My favorite thing about these challenges are to see all the awesome creations everyone comes up with. The interpretation of the theme is so much fun and everyone’s creativity is unique!
K: Any other fun facts/tips/tricks you’d like to share!
S: Tip/Advice: Quilting should be enjoyed to the fullest! For example, I quilt a large majority of quilts with my credit card because I currently do not enjoy the process of quilting it myself. Maybe I will one day, but today is not the day and that’s perfectly fine! I’d rather spend my time working on the things that I love and enjoy the most!
