April Fools’ a Project QUILTING Challenge

April 1, 2018 by persimondreams 2 Comments

What!?  Another Project QUILTING Challenge!?  Well – yes, the official season 9 is over but we’re still going to post monthly off season Project QUILTING Challenges.  Now – how is this different from a normal challenge?  The biggest difference is that you get a whole month to complete the challenge!  Yup – you have until April 30th to start and finish the quilt for this challenge.  The other difference is – no prizes  prizes from Trish Frankland!!!! Yeah!  I’m not sure what these will be but I’ve been to her quilting room and I’m sure she’ll come up with some great goodies!  These challenges are here for inspiration and camaraderie (are you in the Challenge quilt group yet?)

april fools

April Fools’!

Yup – that’s the challenge!  How can you interpret the day/phrase April Fools’ into a quilt?Consider adding a few personal rules of your own for these off season challenge – like all 24-inch quilts, or each one must have a flying geese block in it somehow, or they all have to be star wars themed … etc.  Just share in your post how it was inspired by “April Fools’” and anything else you want folks to know about your piece.

THE RULES:

1. Your project should be inspired by the day/phrase “April Fools’”
2. Incomplete or unfinished does not qualify. Every challenge piece must be a FINISHED project seen through from INCEPTION to COMPLETION during the challenge timeline (April 1, 2018 through April 30th, 2018). Each piece must stand alone as DONE to count toward prizes.
3. Please remember that these projects need to be created during the week of the challenge (started on or after April 1, finished by April 30)
4. Your project does not need to be a traditional quilt, but must meet at least one of these requirements:

  • Include patchwork.
  • Include appliqué.
  • Have 3 layers stitched together by hand or machine. 55

5. Link up a blog post, instagram post, or public facebook post to the linky at the bottom of THIS PAGE by Monday, April 30th, 2018, at noon CDT. Alternately, you may email the picture and description to {lapaceksorchard at gmail dot com} with PROJECT QUILTING in the subject line by 11am on Monday, April 30th. Yes – that deadline is one hour earlier because it requires more work for Kim (which she is FINE with).
When you create your PQ entry’s blog post or instagram, please include:

  • a description of your creative process,
  • the overall size of your project (it’s so hard to tell in a picture!)
  • where you are (ie, I create in Lodi WI)

If you decide to just directly upload your image to the link up party please email Kim {lapaceksorchard at gmail dot com} this information so she can share it with everyone else.

I was in the middle of auditioning ideas for this challenge in the middle of the night when it occurred to me that it was most probably an April Fool's joke. I'm glad to see you've written it up and that it's really going to happen (unless the write up is an April Fool's joke, too. ) I'll keep on auditioning… Diane C.
