The Challenge: My Favorite Fabric
This week we’re asking you to pull out your favorite fabric. You know, that one that’s too pretty to cut into.
- Use your favorite fabric. You can add as many other fabrics as you’d like, but since this one is your favorite, I expect it to be easily recognized in your completed project.
- Be sure to take a picture of your favorite fabric and post it with your finished project.
- Every challenge piece must be a FINISHED project seen through from INCEPTION to COMPLETION during the challenge timeline. Each piece must stand alone as DONE to count toward prizes.
- Your project does not need to be a traditional quilt, but must meet at least one of these requirements:
- Include patchwork.
- Include appliqué.
- Have 3 layers stitched together by hand or machine.
- Your project must have a name.
- Projects must be FINISHED and LINKED UP at the bottom of this post by Sunday, March 8th at Noon, CST.

- ‘How to link up to a Link Up’ post
- If you can’t figure out how to link up … just email me picture(s ) of your project with a description and I’ll post for you … lapaceksorchard {at} gmail {dot} com

Can it be a favorite collection? Or does it have to be just one fabric?
Kris says
hmmmm, this might be the hardest challenge yet! If it is a favorite (one piece) of fabric…it is sacred and can not be cut. However, if you sew it up it might be your favorite piece you ever made….but on the other hand can you make your favorite piece into a really beloved finish in one week?? oh the dilemma!
Sharon says
EXACTLY Kris!

I have a lot of favorites but i picked one!

Ooh, it will be hard to choose!

Such a difficult challenge….I love all of my fabrics and have no idea which one I might call "favorite" or what to do with it! Wish me luck, lol 😉

This is kinda funny, I love how everyone is interpreting favourite different. I have a range of favourites, but those are the ones I also love to use, I have fabrics that I have not used before as they weren't right fits for my projects, but those are not the ones I would consider my all time favourites. I already know what I'm going to make though. And it'll include (probably a few) fabric from those faves I love using, even if that means I'll have less in the end lol!

So hard to pick a favorite!

Does a quilt have to be bound to be considered "done" for Project Quilting? My quilt is "done for now", because I don't have backing fabric that does the quilt top justice–it turned out MUCH nicer than I expected! (That's what I get for cutting into my favorite fabric!) I'm just not sure whether a patchwork quilt top can count as a finish for this challenge?

Such beautiful quilts and projects this week! So fun to see how everyone used their favorite fabrics. And love seeing so many bigger quilts this week too! Great challenges this season, Diane Lapacek!
