The third challenge for Project QUILTING Season 16 is posted and the theme is Common Blocks. While you can find patterns and tutorials all over for these I just thought I’d share a few of my favorite sources when I’m coming up with patterns.
I enjoyed the roundup of patterns from last challenge so I decided to do it for you all again. Maybe this will help jumpstart your creativity if you need it, add some more fun patterns to your toolbox, or just add some joy and whimsy to your quilty world.
- Periodic Table of Quilt Blocks (#ad)
- Electric Quilt Encyclopedia of Pieced Quilt Patterns compiled by Barbara Brackman (#ad)
- Crossroads Quilt Pattern by Studio R Quilts (#ad)
- I Still Play with Quilt Blocks Sweatshirt (#ad)
- Quilt Builder Card Deck (#ad)
- Quilt Block Playing Cards (#ad)
One thing I did in 2014 was take common blocks and twist them into fun blocks. You can find a bunch of these patterns on my etsy site for a low fee. Perhaps one of these will be the inspiration you’re looking for! I linked a few of my personal favorites below.
- Wyoming Dragonfly
- Square Dancing Whale
- Resolution Bee
- Grandmother’s Love Block
- Rocky Road to Love Block
- Weathervane Neighborhood
