Are you flipping out about the latest Project QUILTING Challenge because you don’t sew wearables?! Trust me – I panicked a little at first too! I want you to take a breath and relax though. Trish and I try to keep things pretty laid back and as long as you explain how it fits the challenge we’re going to be cool with it.
We also have some fabulous sponsors this season that have some great patterns/tutorials available to help you get through this challenge! Below I’ve rounded up a few.
My first round up is patterns for wearables – yes you can WEAR a bag 😉
How to Make Wide Brims & Visors (#ad) from Studio Cherie
Kid Giddy Tie Pattern (#ad)
Portable Pockets from Around the Bobbin
Chunky Wee Bag from Hunter’s Design Studio
Linden Sweatshirt from Blue Bar Quilts
Pack It Up from Kate Colleran Designs
Here are some more ideas that stretch the theme slightly but I’ll explain why I think they would work!
Sticks & Stones from Studio R Quilts – I think using clothing to make this quilt would be fantastic!
Ugly Sweater Block from Kid Giddy – it’s the perfect block to depict clothing! Have some fun – make one into a mug rug or multiples into a placemat or wall hanging!
Cross the Scraps from May Chappell – another pattern that would be great to upcycle clothing with.
Companion Carpet Bag from Sew Hungry Hippie – this works because you can wear a bag 😉 Natalie has a bunch of fun bag and garment patterns available – be sure to browse!
Back and Forth from Sarah Goer Quilts – I’m feeling like this would be a perfect quilt to use your old jeans to make!
Cats in Pajamas (#ad) from Fat Quarter Shop – cats wearing clothes – hard to beat that!
I hope these ideas help you realize that this is a very doable challenge! Just remember – you just have to explain to us why it fits and we’re going to be good with it! It’s also a great opportunity to go outside your comfort zone and make something you haven’t before. Have some fun with the Project QUILTING 15.5 Wearables Challenge!
