Hello Project Quilting family, friends, and fans!
Project Quilting challenges are the perfect opportunity to stretch your design skills and tool kit of quilting techniques. If you are feeling stumped for this first challenge theme, looking for a boost of quilting inspiration, and/or looking for new techniques to try, you are in luck! QUILT 2024 is a brand NEW online quilting summit that goes live January 10-14, 2024.
There are 30 instructors from all around the world leading quilting/creativity workshops ranging from 20-60 minutes on everything from getting your creative juices flowing, designing unique patterns, using exciting color combinations, creating from your fabric stash, piecing/applique, incorporating text, making/using precuts, adding quilted texture, all the way to binding–and sew much more!
Even more awesome is that this is a cost-free virtual event for the week with each workshop available for free for 24 hours. Each day, 6 or more workshops are unlocked for 24 hours’ viewing.
But wait–this is a Project Quilting challenge week!?! When will I have time to watch all 20 hours of workshop content and still finish my project before Sunday’s PQ deadline?
Option 1: You can pick and choose which workshops interest you and listen to them while working on your PQ entry. This is a great way to multitask during your PQ sewing marathons!
Option 2: There is a VIP upgrade option which includes year-long access along with many more hours of bonus content that you can watch in between PQ challenge weeks and/or after Season 15 concludes.
And just like Project Quilting–there are lots of prize give aways you can enter to win!

And two of our long-time Project Quilting participants are QUILT 2024 teachers!
- Sarah Goer (who is also one of PQ’s Sponsors) is teaching “Adventures in Improv Piecing” – a perfect follow up session to this year’s Sixth Annual Project QUILTING Mystery Quilt Along! Sarah’s workshop is an invitation for you to play with improv piecing. In her 30 minute workshop, she’ll walk you through her process for creating a composition with improv piecing by using a set of guidelines for design including color/fabric palette selections, parameters for piecing, and tips/tricks for cutting, sewing, and putting it all together!
- Mel Beach’s “Let’s Get Rolling on Your 2024 Quilting Resolutions!” offers a playful approach to achieving your 2024 quilting resolutions! Grab a pair of dice and discover how rolling the dice can help you have fun while you make more art, tidy up your studio space, experiment with your newly organized supplies, tackle UFOs, stretch your quilting skills, and uncover a wealth of design inspiration. You’ll leave with lots of ideas to incorporate creative play into each day, all year long!
