Happy Friday everyone! Have you enjoyed your week off from Project QUILTING and caught up on a few things? I’ll be honest – it feels like it’s Monday right now. We just had two days off due to ice/snow so everyone’s been a bit cooped up around here. OH! And today is Capri’s birthday! The girls have a big basketball game tonight so I won’t see her much. It was nice to be home yesterday as we were able to celebrate a bit yesterday and we’ll do a bit more celebrating tomorrow.
You all still have a few more days before the next challenge (February 26) but we have a great sponsors to meet today! I’m excited to annoucne that Therm O Web (#ad) is this weeks Project QUILTING Ultimate Weekly sponsor!
Therm O Web has support Project QUILTING and me for quite a few years now. I used to do projects for them as well and I am a huge fan of there Heat n Bond fusibles, decofoils and basting spray adhesive in particular.
Today we’ree going to find out more Dawn Gehring. Dawn is the creative director at Therm O Web and I’m excited to share a bit more about her with you all!
Q: Who is your favorite fabric designer?
A: I love so many different designers, but one of my current favorites is Maureen Cracknell (#ad) for Art Gallery Fabrics.
Q: If you could choose one song to play every time you walked into a room, what would you choose and why?
A: It would have to be “Hallelujah” (#ad) as sung by Pentatonix. That song instantly relaxes and uplifts me, which is the sweet spot for creativity, I think.
Q: What would your superhero power be and why?
A: I don’t know where it comes from, but I have an amazing eye for when things are straight or level. I’m not a math-and-numbers person, but that’s one thing I’m pretty good at. Doesn’t always translate to my stitching, but I try.
Q: What was the last gift you gave someone?
A: The last gift I gave was a scented wax warmer with spa/relaxation wax chips to my daughter who is in graduate school right now. Very stressful schedule.
Q: What is your go pattern for a baby quilt/quick project?
A: I like fusible applique designs for baby quilts and home décor project like pillow covers, placed over a strip quilt base.
Q: Tell us about your funniest sewing fail!
A: I sewed through my sleeve once. Took a little maneuvering to wield my seam ripper as a lefty.
Q: Anything else you’d like to share is wonderful!
A: I’ve been fortunate to serve as the Creative Director here at Therm O Web since 2015. Before that, I worked as an editor for Crafts ‘n Things magazine. I learned just about every crafty technique I know from a loving, patient grandmother. For me, joy is found when head, heart and hands connect.
