I’m thrilled to announce that I am going to be sewing along with the Fat Quarter Shop and their Barn Star Sampler Quilt Along in 2023! This quilt was designed by Shelley Cavanna and has 20 different blocks. I cannot wait. If you’ve been following me along for any amount of time you know that samplers are my favorite and this scrappy star sampler is definitely going to bring me joy!
Throughout the year, we’ll be sewing blocks in the same order as they appear in the book. To join the year-long Barn Star Sampler Quilt Along, grab your book (there are two options – e-book from Martingale HERE or kindle edition on amazon HERE) and your favorite half yards so you’re ready to start on January 27.
This Queen-sized quilt finishes at 80.5″ x 100.5″ finished. It is written for traditional piecing techniques, but if you like to use triangle paper, we’ve created a collection of Triangles on a Roll and additional foundation paper pads that you can use with the Barn Star Sampler Quilt. Be sure to grab anything you need from the optional supplies listed below.

Kimberly from the Fat Quarter Shop will be sewing with Barn Star Sampler Starter Half Yard Bundle. A combination of fabric selections from Sunwashed by Corey Yoder and Simply Delightful by Sherri & Chelsi for Moda Fabrics curated by Fat Quarter Shop for the Barn Star Sampler Quilt Along.
I, of course, have to go way out there and picked a bunch of different bundles I’ll probably mix and match as I go. I may use them all, I may not, and I may randomly add more from my own stash as needed. Here’s what my initial “gut” pull for this quilt decided on:
- Celestial Fabric by Zen Chic for Moda Fabrics
- Birthday Fat Quarter Bundle by Sarah Watts for Ruby Star Society
- Unruly Nature Fat Quarter Bundle by Jen Hewett for Ruby Star Society
For the background I think I plan on using fabrics from the Pietra Fat Quarter Bundle by Giucy Giuce for Andover Fabrics.
I’m excited for my eclectic fabric pull and it will definitely be fun to see what happens when these all go together into one beautiful quilt.
