Kim and I are through the first two days of the Tula Pink City Sampler: 100 Modern Quilt Blocks Sew Along and I’m already having a blast! It’s been fun making the blocks but I’ve been having even more fun coming up with cute reels to go with them. I think coming up with 100 unique reels is pushing it a bit but I’m going to keep going as long as I can. If you hate reels – don’t worry! I’m going to do static posts too so you can just see the pretty block without all the drama.
If you haven’t joined in yet – don’t worry! You can join in at anytime! You can either catch up or just sew at your own pace – I promise – we aren’t judging anyone. This whole thing is truly just to help inspire folks to get to their sewing machines once a day to get their creative mojo going.
Like Kim – this is not my first set of Tula Pink Modern 100 blocks. In fact, this my third go around!
Above is my first Tula Pink Modern Sampler Quilt. I had a lot of fun featuring fun fussy cuts (these blocks just seem to scream for fussy cuts) and then I also played with a layout to create one that worked for me. This lovely quilt now lives with a good friend of mine and I love that it found it’s forever home.
This is the second set of my Tula Pink Modern Quilt Blocks. I made them with indigo and mustard fabrics. My plan is to layout it out into my Stellar Adventure Quilt Pattern … so it will mix some big stars in with these fun blocks. I started it a bit but I haven’t gotten too far. I need to just set a week aside and work on just this and then my vision of what’s happening might be more clear for everyone. I often get ideas in my head that don’t really translate into words … I just need to do it and then it will make sense.
For this round of blocks I’m going to feature a bunch of fabrics that GoGoKim sent me after she did her big Craft Room Overhaul. It’s been so fun to dig through all the gems she found! To pull it “together” somewhat I will be using some of my hand-dyed fabrics. It’s not the best fabric to read “solid” but it will definitely add some pizzazz to the piece.
Kim and I just chatted today and our goal is to do a recap each Tuesday on our progress. Feel free to stop by our blogs each week and see how it’s going or follow along on instagram!
To play along with Kim and me, just grab the book, grab some fabric, and post your photos on Instagram and tag Kim and me to see all of your beauties!!!!!! Let’s have some FUN!!!!
