Wisco Home Goods – Ultimate Weekly Sponsor for Project QUILTING Challenge 13.6

March 12, 2022 by persimondreams Leave a Comment

This is it. This is the last post I have for the Ultimate Weekly Sponsor. The final challenge of the 13th season of Project QUILTING goes up tomorrow, March 13th at noon CST. It’s hard to believe how fast this season has gone by. Season 13 has blown us all away with more participation, creativity, support and fun than ever before. Seriously –  you all – way to go! For the last challenge we once again have Wisco Home Goods as our Ultimate Weekly Sponsor!

Wisco Home Goods loves Project QUILTING So much they decided to be the Ultimate Weekly Sponsor for TWO weeks of Project QUILTING! Today I’m going to share with you a mini interview with Don, one of the owners. If you missed the interview with Jeremy check it out HERE.

~|~|~

Q: What was your favorite quilt (or candle/product?) you made in 2021?
A: It wasn’t in 2021, but a few years ago I made a quilt for my great-nephew when he was born. It was special to me because each of my siblings received a quilt from our grandmother when we were born. I still have mine and treasure it deeply. I was very proud to be able to pass on the tradition in my own little way. Coincidentally, that great-nephew was named after my dad whose mother was the grandmother that made our quilts.
Q: What is your usual order at a diner?
A: Pancakes. The house down boots. Pancakes, sausage, and a couple scrambled eggs. There’s nothing better. And, bonus, every diner knows how to make them well. I’m never disappointed.
Q: If you could only read one book for the rest of your life, what would it be?
A: This is an easy one. East of Eden by John Steinbeck (#ad). I’ve read through most of the literary canon and I’ve never come across a novel with such an important message. At the core is the notion that, at the end of the day, you are in charge of your own destiny. To quote a hackneyed phrase of recent times, “If it’s meant to be, it’s up to me.”
Q: What do you like most about candle making?
A: I love the creativity involved in naming a new scent. It’s a closely held secret (just kidding) that I have final approval over all candle names. We have a limited number of characters we can include in a scent name, and coming up with a name that fits the constraints of the label while being simultaneously fun, creative, and appealing is quite a challenge. And I love a challenge.
Q: What’s your favorite part about Project QUILTING?
A: I have many friends on the book of faces that take part in Project QUILTING. For the past several years I’ve enjoyed watching them create something within the guidelines of the week’s assignment. IMHO, true art comes out of a need to overcome limitations. And the parameters laid down for project quilting (and the short timeline) force the participants to find not only their answer to the week’s idea but to plan out a quilt that can actually be created in a week.
Q: Coffee or Tea? (or something else)
A: Coffee. I have tried a dozen times in my life to figure out what all the hubbub is around tea. I just don’t understand. Aside from a nice tall glass of sweet tea, I’ll take a coffee in hand any day of the week or year or life.
It was great to learn a little more about you Don! If you haven’t checked out Wisco Home Goods yet be sure you do ASAP! Now let’s see what prize they have for us this week!
