I’ve finished almost all of my Scrap Quilt Challenge Quilts but I’ve been pretty terrible with blogging the finishes. I think the 31 day blog challenge will help me get all their stories shared! The theme for the May Scrap Quilt Challenge was star blocks!
I did something a little strange for this one. I had a bunch of sample blocks I had made years ago and just never figured out how I wanted to put them together.
Because of that, they became “scraps” for this challenge and the fabric for the stars. I love creating floating scrappy stars because they don’t have to be perfect and the wonkier the better. I used mostly linen scraps that I bought when my friend Ashley closed up her Casa & Co pillow business. My favorite scraps had words printed on them that had been “oops” and she couldn’t make them into finished pillows any more. It added that extra pop to this piece that brings a smile to my face every time.
A picture in the wind is always fabulous! As with most of my scrappy quilts the backs are also pieced with scraps of fabric that I just don’t intend on using for much of anything anymore.
Kim Van Etten did the amazing quilting on this one! I asked for a solar system-esque feel and she nailed it! I’m sure she was absolutely thrilled that it was a mixture of cotton and linen fabric!
Love this quilt? It could be yours? Check it out for sale in my etsy shop HERE.
