Courthouse Steps Block from Pat Sloan – Block 10 of the Old School Block of the Month

Happy October 12th! I’m going to be honest – even though Pat was completely on top of things I still had in my mind that the block was released on the 15th of the month? No idea why! It might be because we’re in the midst of apples season at my families orchard.  It’s been a weird season and we’re actually going to be closing on October 17th for the season. Craziness!  But – let’s get back to quilting! Pat Sloan is our amazing designer for the month of October and she shared a classic – the Courthouse Steps Block. If you missed all the beginning info you can find out all about this Block of the Month HERE.

 

Pat Sloan shares with us a tutorial for a classic block – the log cabin courthouse steps! Her tutorial shows how to do it with essentially two color ways but of course – if you know me at all – I had to use four!

I have four distinct colors in my scrappy Old School BOM quilt – blues, greens, reds and neutral so I figured this was  a perfect block to showcase them all! Have funwith this one! It goes together quickly and has a great, dramatic effect once done.

Here are all of my 10 blocks so far. I’m still waffling on how I want to lay these blocks out but so far I’m loving where I’m at! We have all of 2022 to figure out how we put these together – right!?
