You’re Crazy! That was this weeks Project QUILTING Challenge. Essentially, we had to be inspired by the crazy quilt. This is a super fun method of quilting with lots of different types of fabrics encouraged and fun, fancy stitching.
As I contemplated my piece I knew I wanted to do something slightly different. I started by making Crazy Quilted fabric to use. Then, I decided on my design – I was waffling with something to do with spools of thread and trees. In the end – trees won.
The crazy quilt fabric turned into the tree tops and I appliqued them to an ombre background. Before adding the trees I completely quilted the background – you can watch a fun time lapsed video HERE if you want.
I then took a brown suede fabric to make the trunks of the trees.
My piece is around 19″ square. It was simple, fun and quick. I’d love to hear what you think of my “Crazy Trees” Quilt.

LOVE those Crazy trees!!! I think you just solved my problem of not wanting to “mess up” my word quilts with stitching. Quilting the background ahead of time is brilliant!

Amazed that you come up with something interesting and different each time. Love the perspective shot and the yellow just pops. I want to try the quilting before the appliqué sometime. That’s why I love PQ. Always something different and new to try.
