Happy December 1st everyone! There’s just one more theme for the 2020 Scrap Quilt Challenge and it is ….
For this months Scrap Quilt Challenge let’s see your paper piecing! You can choose what theme you want to go with, the blocks have to be paper pieced with your scraps. All the specific rules of the challenge can be found by clicking HERE.
Paper Piecing Block
Paper piecing is a process some either love or hate. I personally really enjoy it as I can piece a complicated block that I wouldn’t be able to piece in any other way.
Not sure how to paper peice? Be sure to check out tutorials like this one or this one.
The options for your scrappy paper pieced quilts are truly endless. I’m going to share with you a few of my favorite paper pieced pattern designers to hopefully give you some inspiration.
But first – my favorite tool to use while paper piecing – the Add-A-Quarter Plus! I have always used the Add-a-Quarter ruler for paper piecing but when Violet Craft introduced me to the Add-a-Quarter Plus things completly changed. It is awesome for folding back the paper in the right spot and trimming your block properly.
Some of my favorite paper piecing patterns!
I used patterns from Bubble Stitch to create this quilt – Once Upon A Time. BubbleStitch’s shop offers patterns from fairy tales to animals to camping and more.
Kerry has a ton of awesome patterns including the mermaid above in her “Land of Stories” series. She also has her Hot Skates quilt … that would be perfect for a scrap quilt!
I love Amy’s patterns! I’m currently working on her Next Door BOM. These houses would be fun to do with scraps but I’m thinking maybe her Paper Cuts Snowflake patterns may be absolutely perfect for this months challenge.
