Hi everyone! I’m super excited about the latest Project QUILTING Challenge – Give it Away! There is still PLENTY of time to join in the fun of making a quilt or other item before the noon deadline tomorrow.
Remember:
Your project does not need to be a traditional quilt but must meet at least one of these requirements: include patchwork, include appliqué, have 3 layers stitched together by hand or machine.
I love the feeling I get when I give someone something special that I made while thinking of them. I hope you get to feel that this week as well!
Anyway – here are some great project ideas that can be done in four hours or less and they would all qualify for this weeks Project QUILTING Challenge which means you could get your name in the hat for amazing prizes!
Wall Decor
Patchwork Kite! This is one of my original patterns and it goes together quick and easy. It would be a great gift to get your friend ready of spring or to brighten a young person in your life’s room.
Eco Friendly Shopping
My friend Trina, co-founder of Modern Stitching Affair, recently posted this awesome patchwork shopping back she made using the pattern from Michelle Bags. She whips these fabulous bags out in no time! Do you have a friend or friends that are trying to eliminate plastic!? Well – this is a great opportunity for you to use up your fabric and help them avoid plastic bags at the store.
Mug Rug
There are TONS of Mug Rug patterns out there or you could easily make up your own.
I chose to feature this adorable Christmas Pocket Mug Rug from the Crafty Quilter. I know it’s not Christmas right now but you could easily make this not a holiday mug rug by the fabrics you choose. The reason I chose this one is that I love the idea of a pocket to put your tea packet in! How fabulous is that!? You can never go wrong with an added pocket.
I had to share one more Mug Rug tutorial that I found because I’m obsessed with houses!
Seriously – who wouldn’t love to get one of these fabulous “At Home” Mug Rugs from Fashioned by Meg? I know I would squeal! So many possibilities and so much fun!
Pillows
One of my favorite places to go for fun and quick tutorials is to Sew Hungry Hippie’s tutorial site!
For you – I found the Easy Patchwork Pillow Tutorial to feature. I absolutely love how cheery this is and know it would be the perfect project to finish before tomorrow’s deadline!
I also have a fun pillow pattern in my shop – Hearts for Susie. It goes together really fast and turns out adorably!
Miscellaneous
One more tutorial from Sew Hungry Hippie that I just had to share was the Easy Sew Vinyl Tissue Cozy. These are adorable and with all the colds and flu going around it would be a great gift to really brighten someone’s day.
Side note: Pretty much any of the projects on Sew Hungry Hippie’s Tutorial site would be absolutely perfect for this weeks challenge!
Do you want to give a gift to another sewist or quilter in your world?
I promise you they would CHERISH this beautiful Cathedral Window Pincushion!

If you were struggling with ideas for this weeks Project QUILTING challenge I hope this helps motivate and inspire you! It’s that time! As Trish would say “Just Keep Chewing!”

I am going to make those cathedral window pieces as sachets, they are so beautiful and will use up a lot of my scraps. Thank you for sharing this.
