Season 11 of Project QUILTING started out with a bang last week with 134 projects completed for the Notably Numeric Challenge! What an incredible time of creativity and camaraderie. It was so wonderful to re-connect with veteran Project QUILT-ers and welcome all the newbies!
Aurifil is high quality thread that is available in many different weights and an insane variety of color. I have a HUGE collection of Aurifil thread and I love that I always have just the right colors on hand!
Aurifil has been a supporter of me and of Project QUILTING for many years and I’m excited to have them sponsoring us once again.
I did a mini interview with Hilary from the Aurifil team for a little fun!
K: What exciting things are happening at Aurifil right now?
H: We are very excited about our new Aurifil Color Builders collections! They’re a capsule of twelve curated mini-collections inspired by (and named after) Italy’s most vibrant and colorful destinations. Each collection contains three large spools of 50wt thread — a warm, a medium, and a dark — within the location’s primary color palette. Throughout the year our Thread Matters series, Aurifil Designer Block of the Month, and our Slice & Stitch Challenge will all focus on the Color Builder Collections.
For the ultimate weekly sponsorship Aurifil has offered to give one lucky winner THREE Color Builder Collections! I’m not sure what colors they’re giving but I of course had to highlight my favorite!
Capri! All the Aurifil Color Builder Collections are inspired by beautiful towns in Italy. While I always joke with my daughter Capri that she was named after the pants, she really was named after this gorgeous city. It’s on our families bucket list to visit someday.
K: When did you first here about Project QUILTING?
H: I first heard of Project QUILTING when I joined the Aurifil team in January of 2016.
K: Why did you decide to sponsor this fun challenge?
H: The team and I love the idea of challenging quilters to make something new and unique in such a short period of time. It’s amazing to see the quilts that all the participants make week after week.
K: Do you have a go-to pattern or method you use when you take on a challenge?
H: Not particularly but the more quilting the better because that means more thread.
K: What would your perfect day of sewing involve?
H: A full cone of Aurifil 50wt thread, all my blocks pre-cut out, and a marathon of reality TV to watch/listen to in the background.
K: What is the best piece of quilting advice you’ve received?
H: There is no such thing as the quilt police, and practice practice practice when it comes to free motion quilting.
K: Do you prefer cake or pie?
H: Definitely cake!
I HEART Aurifil on Social Media and you should too!
Stop back right here on the blog tomorrow at Noon CST to see the first challenge and find out more info on how you can be entered to win this fantastic prize!
