Today is the big day! It’s the start of the second annual Project QUILTING Mystery Quilt Along. This quilt along is meant to be fun, quick and simple and to help get your in the Project QUILTING spirit! So many of you enjoyed this last year I thought I’d try it again.
Each day for the next week I’ll be posting a new clue at noon CST. By the end of the week you’ll have all the clues needed to create a cute little mini quilt that will inspire you through the 11th season of Project QUILTING.
The first six clues can be made by pulling fabrics from your scrap bin. Nothing even close to a fat quarter will be used. For the first five clues, I have decided to choose fabrics that have somewhat of a “stripe” to them. They don’t have to be a super obvious stripes but I think once this is all put together you’ll understand why I chose to use these fabrics.
Block 1:
Cut:
Fabric A (dark blue): (2) 5.0″ squares
Fabric B (minty green): (2) 5.0″ squares
Make:
Four Half Square Triangles (HSTs)
Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of the two lighter five-inch squares.
Stitch a 1/4-inch on both sides of the drawn line.
Cut along the drawn line. Press towards the darker fabric. Trim each of the four HST blocks to 4.5-inch squares.
Layout the four 4.5″ HST blocks in the orientation shown above. If you chose to use lined fabric, orientate the blocks so the lines are horizontal.
Stitch the four blocks together to create an 8.5″ block.
That is it for Clue #1! Be sure to post your first clue on instagram and tag me @persimondreams and use the hashtag #PQMysteryQAL2
Tune in tomorrow for Clue #2!
Link up your Mystery Quilt (I promise it’s small – this is very doable!) before Season 11 of Project QUILTING Starts on January 5th, 2019 at noon CST and your name will be entered to win the Island Batik fabrics and Moda Scrap Nesting bins seen above plus some other fun Project QUILTING swag.

Looks fun and I need a quick fun project to get me going, thank you!

Colors? Should the fabrics all be the same color palette? Or each day a different contrasting color?
Does that make sense?
Thanks!

Colors are completely up to you for these first five clues. The last two clues you’ll be able to pick colors that will make you’re initial color choice pop … I know that’s confusing! I put what I chose just as a suggestion but if you want to use other ones that’s just fine.

Love this QAL! I would love to link up, by InLinkz is completely impossible on a computer.

If you’re ever having trouble with linking up you can always email me and tell me where you posted your project – instagram, blog, facebook, etc and I can do the link up or if you don’t have social media please feel free to just email me the photo and story and I’ll take care of the rest from there! I’ll add this info more when it’s actually time to link up the mystery quilt and with each of the Project QUILTING challenges.
