Season 10 of Project QUILTING is still going strong and I’m excited to be introducing our third “Celebrity” Quilter to take on the Project QUILTING Challenge. Rachel Rossi of Rachel Rossi Design will be taking on the quilt challenge this week! Rachel will have just one week to start and finish a quilt per the Project QUILTING challenge requirements – just like you!
Let’s get to know Rachel Rossi a little bit better by reading through the mini interview I did with her!
Meet Rachel Rossi
K: What is your favorite thing about quilting?
R: I love the creative community that happens around quilting. I think it’s incredible that a hobby, art, outlet…whatever you want to call it, can bring generations of people together. It’s an incredible opportunity to connect with people that you might not otherwise start a conversation with, let alone go fabric shopping with!
K: What is your favorite color to incorporate into your quilts?
R: I love a white quilt, I’m super guilty of being the stereotypical modern quilter with all my white, but I often find myself sneaking Tiffany Blue into just about everything I touch.
K: Do you have a secret tool that you love to use when quilting?
R: I know my guild friends could answer this one in unison! Elmer’s Glue (particularly the Disappearing Purple Glue Stick). I use it constantly and buy it in large packs.
K: What do you like to snack on while you sew?
R: No snack worth mentioning lends itself well to the white and light quilts that I’m constantly working on. I’m a Bananas and Peanut Butter kinda girl … I just have to keep it as separate as possible.
K: Do you have a favorite sewing beverage?
R: Water! Gotta keep those rotary cutting joints hydrated!
K: Have you ever participated in a challenge before? If yes, what was your favorite thing about it?
R: I haven’t done anything as official as this before, but I love doing guild challenges when I can. I think creativity is such a neat thing: the more rules and limits you put on a piece, the more creative you get. I actually find it easier to get my creative juices flowing when I’m faced with a challenge rather than a free-for-all.
