Season 10 of Project QUILTING is still going strong and I’m excited to be introducing the fourth “Celebrity” Quilter to take on the Project QUILTING Challenge. Kim Niedzwiecki aka Go-Go Kim will be taking on the quilt challenge this week! Kim will have just one week to start and finish a quilt per the Project QUILTING challenge requirements – just like you!
I’ve known Kim for YEARS and she’s one of my favorite people ever! We even met in real life once!!!
It was at Quilt Market in 2015 – looks like I had purple hair that month! Hmmm … Most of our friendship has been online. Kim has supported me and all my dreams and ideas. She’s a social media guru and loves clowns! (I know crazy, right!). I know her well but I want you all to get to know her just a little better.
Meet Go-Go Kim
K: What is your favorite thing about quilting?
GO-GO: The people! Thank goodness for the internet! It has connected me to people that I never ever would have otherwise met in real life. Like YOU and @MisterDomestic and @Sewsweetness and @sewhungryhippie and @nightquilter and @colorgirlquilts and @littlemoodesigns and @weftyneedle and @katebasti and @charmaboutyou and @barij and well … LOTS of FABULOUS people that I love having in my life!!! I am the luckiest girl in the world!
K: What is your favorite color to incorporate into your quilts?
GO-GO: Red is the color that I love to put into any quilt! Oddly it is also I have the least of in my stash! Looks like I need a fabric shopping trip!!!
K: Do you have a secret tool that you love to use when quilting?
K: What do you like to snack on while you sew?
GO-GO: Nada! After the rotary cutter accident of 2013 ( 4 stitches but came away with a cool set of tools for the sewing room) I don’t have many distractions in the sewing room. Truth be told, I am really not a snacker anyway. I also don’t care for chocolate but don’t let that secret out!
K: Do you have a favorite sewing beverage?
GO-GO: Water! As much as I LOVE LOVE LOVE coffee, I drink about 100oz of water ( without heating it up and pouring it over coffee beans) a day!
K: Have you ever participated in a challenge before? If yes, what was your favorite thing about it?
I have participated in a few including #100days100blocks. There was also #missingmarket (shameless plug) challenges (Every Quilt Market…be there) 🙂 I love the fast-paced hard deadlines of challenges. What really draws me in is the sense of community and discovering new online friends!
@islandbatik ( I work for them as their Social Media Manager…so another shameless plug) has a great once a month challenge for the Island Batik Ambassadors. My goal is to open it up to the public with a linky party and giveaways very soon ( stay tuned!)! The quilts that the Ambassadors have been making BLOW MY MIND!!!!!! Go visit the Island Batik feed to see what they are doing!
K: Any other fun facts/tips/tricks you’d like to share!
GO-GO: My mantra is ” Be the reason that someone starts or does not give up!”
Challenge yourself constantly! You can do ANYTHING!!! You don’t know where to start … visit youtube! Not understanding one person’s explanation? Find another! Don’t be afraid to ask for help or opinions. Stepping away from something because you don’t know how is okay, but don’t give up!
Also, help others be able to thrive and create! Everyone starts somewhere and we all need support every now and again. The #communityovercompetition hashtag is my favorite!
Together we can do GREAT things! WE GOT THIS!
Thank you for inviting me Kim <3
I hope you are all as excited as I am to see what Go-Go Kim comes up with for the fourth Project QUILTING Challenge!
