The week is definitely flying by with this little quilt along going on. Happy New Years Eve everyone! Do you have plans tonight? Sewing? Other? My family plays dominoes and eats appetizers every New Years Eve and this year is no different.
Anyway – for those that are going to sew I’m guessing you’re itching for the fourth clue to the Project QUILTING Mystery Quilt Along.
Quick note in case you didn’t see it yesterday before we get to the third clue. It was brought to my attention that I had a typo on Clue 2. It’s fixed now but if you pieced your clue together before 3pm CST yesterday my apologies. You should sew (5) sets of six 2.5” square strips (not the 6 sets of 5 … sorry!). Hopefully this is a quick fix for you and you’re ready for the next set of clues!
Clue 4 – Sew Fabric Four Pieces Together
Today we’re going to sew together the block made using fabric four.
Layout the square strips of fabric four, the half square triangles and the background square strips as shown above.
Sew the pieces together. I started by sewing the single half square triangle to the strip of three background pieces. And also sewing the single half square triangles to the strips of two background pieces.
Eventually you have two columns that sew together. Then the top and bottom row of four can be sewn to the middle column. 59As the final step, sew a six square strip of background fabric to the right side of the block.
Surprise! The second block is pieced and you now have a “Q” block!
So that’s it – Clue 4! Have fun and be sure to post your progress on instagram using the hashtag #PQMysteryQAL.
