Blogger’s Quilt Festival–In The Garden

September 19, 2018 by persimondreams 19 Comments

Hello everyone and welcome to my blog if this is your first time here!  You’ll soon realized that I’m not afraid of mixing color, patterns, and FUN! quilt expo in the garden Today I decided to share my quilt “In the Garden”.  I’ve shared the whole story before HERE but I haven’t shared the big news on here yet. quilt expo ribbon Earlier this month “In the Garden” was on display at Quilt Expo and it took home second place in the “Machine Quilted Bed Size – Mixed Technique” category!!!!  I was in absolute and utter shock when I found out!  It is the first time I’ve gotten a ribbon from a big show like “Quilt Expo.”   You can see all the winners of this year exhibition by going HERE. This quilt was pieced by myself, Kim Lapacek, and quilted by Frank Palmer.  My friend Trisha Frankland just did her lecture “Modern or Contemporary” and the group was undecided on my quilt.  What do you think … Modern, Contemporary, art, or some other category!? Linking up to the Blogger’s Quilt Festival at Amy’s Creative Side.

Congratulations on your ribbon! What an honor! Improov sounds easy – but it really is not. I am drooling over your quilt, wish I had the patience to do it. Absolutely beautiful. Love the ombre affect… or is it effect? Whatever it is, it is stunning. Beautifully designed, pieced, executed, pieced, quilted. Wish I can see it in person. Congrats!

Wow… it’s fun, colourful, vibrant and outrageous. And fun that it’s all solids too. Love it because it breaks all expected limits and boundaries:)

CONGRATULATIONS! Well deserved. I think it is its own category – combining modern, contemporary, and it is definitely art. The vast array of colors, shapes, and your design putting it all together creates an amazing art piece. Again well deserved recognition of your creative talents.

Absolutely Art!! More Contemporary than Modern but only because the Modern esthetic tends toward use of bigger motifs and more negative space. I love how the motifs scattered around this quilt makes the eyes dance and your perfect use of colors and the Ombre fabrics make this quilt soooo hauntingly luminous! You perfectly captured Don Clark's inspirational artwork and that ribbon is very well deserved. Well done and thanks for sharing this in the Bloggers Festival!
