I’m only about two months late but I’ve put the final stitches in the binding of this quilt I made for my brother’s girlfriend Laura for Christmas. I didn’t have a helper or a ladder when I hung the quilt so I just hung it the wide way so it wouldn’t touch the ground. Laura’s favorite color is pink so I used a bunch of different pink fabrics for the background. I used darker “pink” prints for the main diagonal and fun blues for the accent.
The pattern is “The North Star” from the book “Irish Chain Quilts: Contemporary Twists on a Classic Design” by Melissa Corry. The pattern was really well written and the quilt went together quickly (when I took the time to work on it). There are so many other great patterns in her book that I can’t wait to try out when I have more time!
Once the top was done I sent it to Quilts by Barb for quilting. She did an all over design of SHOES!!!!! It’s absolutely perfect!
I did finish this up a week ago but I had to wait for some decent weather to snap a picture. We had just that on Wednesday. And today – an ice storm so school was cancelled. Crazy weather this year!
The back is pieced with pink scraps! I have one more tiny thing to do before I ship it to Minnesota – add the label. I do have it ready … it just needs a few stitches and it’ll be all ready to go. My goal is to ship it out on Monday! Linking up to Finish It Up Friday.
That's a great looking quilt
Such a pretty quilt – she's going to love it.
I like the modern look. Great job!
