Scandinavian Fabric Stars–Christmas Ornament Idea

December 10, 2016 by persimondreams 3 Comments

Many of my readers who have followed along with me over the years know that for my moms Christmas party we all make an ornament to decorate the tree with.  Now – you may think that would make a pretty bare tree … but not when there are over 100 people attending!  Yes – my mom has a large family – like 12 brothers and sisters large and Christmas is awesome. Instead of exchanging presents we make (or buy if we don’t have time to make … I always make, way more fun) an ornament.  When the party is over we draw a name and that person gets our ornament to take home.  It’s probably my favorite Christmas tradition. scand star I’m trying to figure out what “my” ornament is going to be this year and I’ve been playing around with these Scandinavian Fabric Stars.  Crafting a Rainbow has a great tutorial here. I’m an engineer but I’m not very good at small details so my points aren’t quite perfect.  This was my first attempt though so for my next batch I starched the fabric to keep it a bit more crisp.  I’ll keep you posted on how that goes.  Also for the next ones I’m cutting into my Christmas fabric scraps.  I don’t use them for too much so this might be a good way to get through some of them. If you have a great ornament tutorial or idea you’d like to share with me please leave me a comment below!  I have to come up with ones for my kids (and husband … yes, I make him make an ornament too) to make before Saturday, December 17th! I've been making fabric pine cone ornaments this year. I bought some mini charms to save time. Tutorials on Pinterest and YouTube @grinnie1961

Keera at Live, Love Sew has a post on December 6 with 10 different ornaments and the links. I made the Christmas lights and they were pretty simple and oh so cute. Lots of ideas on that post.

These are so cute! Thanks for the tutorial. I might have to make a few of these this week.
