Not Quite Ready for Christmas!

Are you all set for Christmas?  I’m not quite ready over here – oops!  I have to say though that I”m close enough to not worry about it.  Honestly – I could pull some all night-ers and have everything just right but then I  would be tired, cranky and not in the holiday spirit myself.  I’m going to just keep working as I find time but I’m really trying to focus my energy on my family and my girls. I decided that I was going to make someone special a quilt for Christmas – I’m 95% sure she doesn’t read my blog so I *think* I’m safe sharing this here but to be completely honest I’m horrible with secrets so I’ll probably tell her before I’m finished anyway.  I’ve been eyeing Melissa Corry’s book “Irish Chain Quilts: Contemporary Twists on a Classic Design” since I saw her school house at market a few years back.  One of these would be perfect for an adorable … but quick quilt!  I cut all my strips, sewed together the strip sets and have those all cuts. Now as I’m working on two other quilts I’ve been sewing the strip sets into blocks.  I’m going to make a decent size lap quilt instead of the queen as the pattern is and I took the picture below yesterday.  As of earlier today I have all the main blocks made!  All my sashing is pieced so now I just have to sew it all together! I have to admit … I’m not stressed about this either because due to weather our Christmas get together was postponed until sometime in January.  Definitely gives me some buffer!  We also exchange names in our immediately family and I finished up the gift I made for Pip last night.  I helped Pip work on her gift for Capri today and we’ll need Papa for the final step tonight!  Whew!  We’re getting there!
