My (now grown up) son's and their wives decorate the Christmas cake on Christmas Eve. We have had Elvis Santa's and Game of Thrones banners from shareware, traditional it certainly isn't but they have been doing it since they were little.
I love making fresh wreaths each Christmas from local greens for front door.

I bake cookies, chocolate truffles and Italian sugar and almond candy to give to my son's school and some of my favorite people for the Christmas season. It started when my son was 1 or 2, I made cookies to thank everyone that was so loving and caring to my son. He really enjoyed visiting the library, bank, neighbors … and giving them something he helped making. Thanks for making me stop and reminisce, he's 17 now and we recently finished college applications, time flies way too fast. Merry! Merry! Toni Anne

Pecan pies are a favorite at Christmas time. The pecans are usually shelled at thanksgiving. I guess I could make pecan pies at other times of the year but it's not Christmas without one.
I followed and pinned on Pinterest (boxed in mini). Thanks, dlkrist@aol.com PS Wonderful portfolio collection!
Our family traditions include: decorating a real tree, setting up my Dogtivity, hanging a Will Moses "Christmas Moon" print, baking savory Cheese Wafers for snacking, driving to the cathedral in Montreal for Christmas Lessons and Carols.

Nuts & Bolts! Nowadays people call it Chex Mix but in our family this delicious concoction will always be called Nuts & Bolts. Although there are lots of real nuts in it, the original nuts were cherrios and the bolts were pretzels. I make 2 big roasters full every Christmas & send a tin full to my brothers & sisters.

I think most of our traditions revolve around food! We have a finger food decorating party, and pizza on Christmas Eve (for our birthday boy). We also love going to a Christmas Eve service at church and are looking forward to church on Christmas this year. 🙂
On Christmas Eve I prepare a pan of Overnight Caramel French Toast, then I get up early on Christmas morning to bake it. It's really sweet so we only have it once a year 😀 When the kids were little, they used to sleep under the Christmas tree the first night it went up 🙂
We make frosted cutout sugar cookies with a huge cookie cutter collection.
when the kids were growing up we would spend days baking cookies to give away. We would all sit down and make a list of the recipients. Then we would all go and give the cookies away. The children loved it. Now our daughter is in CA and our son is married for the last year and we are all trying to find something special that we can still do. So it is up in the air right now, LOL

My favorite holiday tradition is to clean out the refrigerator (so there is room for all the cooking to come). We take everything, cook it up and then put it in packages and deliver to the homeless. The people on the street always appreciate having a warm, homecooked meal. We include paper plates, plastic silverware, napkins and condiments (that may or may not have been pilfered from a fast food restaurant!).

Only one tradition that we do every year, & it involves an "ornament". Our first Christmas together my husband brought home a headlight bulb from a van that had blown weird. They're usually clear, but when this one blew, the filament turned most of the glass white. I took it, twisted the wires into a hoop, put it on an ornament hook, & hung it front & center on our little tree. I still have it. It's always the last ornament on the tree, front & center every time. Thanks for the lovely giveaway.

I am a boy mom (3 sons). As each son turned 13, I purchase(d) a Hallmark Christmas Ornament and tucked it away to give to their future wife at her Bridal Shower with a note telling her even though I hadn't yet met her or knew who she would be when my son(s) were growing up I had been thinking about her, praying for her and excited that she would one day join our family. So far we've had one son get married. His bride was thrilled to receive the gift of a "starter set" of Christmas ornaments. Email : mbttrfld4h (at) gmail.com
Cherry pie, pumpkin pie.
I always make ornaments for friends and family. A different one each year.
My kids (now grown) and my hubby and myself always made dozens and dozens of sugar cookies and decorated them with icing, sprinkles etc. every year. The cookies can get pretty elaborate, and I have a very large collection of cookie cutters. I started when my oldest was 3, and I still do it every year. One of our highlights! And, even better, the cookies are really yummy. We're always sad to see the end of them.

My husband's family is BIG! They have an annual Christmas Party that is essentially a reunion. Each generation has its own types of foods to bring to the function, but when it comes to the goodies it is a free for all. Each year I try to bring something different for a "goodie" because that is the fun of it all. There are so many people, and it is so much fun to catch up with everyone 🙂
It used to be my favorite, 10 years ago…but since i have been doing this 20 years, i would LOVE to try something new but my family would be APPALLED! I take a variety of homemade fudges, divinity, cinnamon candy, Christmas Cookies and 2 Buttermilk pies to Christmas Dinner. This…is not negotiable, lol. I am also in charge of mashed potatoes and a thing called pink salad which is really just a cranberry salad but apparently NO ONE can make these things like i can. The candy and cookies used to be my favorite thing, but i am DYING to try something new. I am going to go rouge on them next year. Lol kwarren29@cox.net

I bake cookies for the people in our small town who help our family all through the year, such as our vet's office, the Post Office, the PUD, etc. It has become such a tradition since we moved here a dozen years ago that the year I didn't bake them because we didn't have an oven, I was repeatedly asked about them at the P.O., being greeted every time I walked through the door with, "Where are those (insert my last name here) cookies?" as if that was a real thing, similar to "Mrs. Fields". It was funny, but made me feel good–I was trying to show my appreciation, and they ended up showing me theirs.

We always try to buy each of our kids a Christmas ornament and a family one each year. The plan was that when they go out on their own that they would be able to take their ornaments with them. These are usually from places we've visited or something that has meaning to them.
Every year we make a special black walnut fudge that was a favorite of my husband's grandfather.
When our kids were little we would have cookie baking parties for them and their friends. My grown kids still like to get together over here when I have my baking days. Pound cake cookies, sugar cookies and peanut butter blossoms are always on the list!

My sister and I try to get together every year to bake. This year we expanded to a bigger group of girls- we mostly brought the cookies and just drank wine and socialized! But it's so nice to share some time and thank the people in our lives for all they do for us! Looking forward to your sew along- never a dull moment with Persimon Dreams!
Hi, I always make homemade gifts of some kind either ornaments, or a table runner, quilted wall hanging, etc. I love sharing and rarely keep any for myself like most quilters and crafters and I try to make at least one new thing for my tree.
I always pick up some Dutch TaiTai cookies from the Dutch grocery store. Only available early in December.
I love the decorating – especially pulling out each of my tree ornaments – ones from special places visited, ones made by my mom, aunt, friends and self. The memories are so special and important! kathleendotlutzatcomcastdotnet

I like to make Iced Sugar Cookies every year.
I don't have a favorite project. We love reading picture books.
My contribution to Christmas festivities is making batches of shortbread cookies. Thanks for the lovely giveaway!
I used to make 15+ varieties of cookies and share with friends, family, etc. But, my family asked me to stop, too many calories;-) Now I may make Sugar, Gingerbread and fudge. Sometimes I make zilch. I always have an Original Cake Co. cranberry candle and it is the 'smell of Christmas' in our home.
One joy is getting out my grandmother's Christmas cookie recipes. The cards are frayed, yellowed, stained, loved.
Thank you for generating this inspiring collection of Christmas traditions! Our family has so many that evolve as our adult children have families of their own. Oldest of 9, I hosted after our Mom died. She always invited the homeless for Christmas. She'd play piano & we all sang carols. Now we sing The 12 Days of Christmas & Mick McGilligan's Ball. Gingerbread Cookies & breads decorated in all manner of figures by our artist daughter & her husband, the sculptor. Triple Chocolate biscotti & hot beverages as we open gifts. Our favorite parties are Cookie Painting hosted by our friend who bakes over 1000 cookies, a tradition started by her mother, and our neighbors' Carol sing with opera singers & piano played by a member of our local orchestra! Memorable times with Family & Friends! Often we wrap the decorated cookies in cellophane with a ribbon to give as gifts along with a cellophane bag of triple chocolate biscotti. My favorite ornaments are those my children made when young, those I received from past students, and a fabric ornament I received this month! We also hang the gingerbread Cookie stars and figures on the tree! I follow you & your exquisite work on IG and am so happy to have made your acquaintance! I think we wil be good friends!
Always always always have to make Christmas candy! Preferably a day of it with mom, but at least a small batch if I'm by myself. 🙂
I like to make clothespin reindeer ornaments every year.
My favorite tradition would have to be making coconut tarts. It's a treat I learned to make from my British grandmother and cannot celebrate the Christmas season without having at least one 🙂

Every year is different for me. But what stays the same is that I look forward to the dark fall and winter months as a time of making presents. This year was crocheted washcloths, last year was ohio star block ornaments. sarah@forrussia.org
the last few years I've made a point to drive through the lights in the park in town – always festive
I like making home-made bread for our family get-togethers! Everyone loves it and request it.

Old fashioned fresh coconut cake was our tradition growing up, and I can still picture my mom making it every Christmas. Good memories.
We are a family FULL of traditions. Even new things we try somehow become traditions. My husband and daughter make homemade eggnog every year. Everyone has to open their stockings before any presents. Christmas Eve is the day we go to church and then have a huge soup and appetizer spread. My kids are now adults, so, they choose a signature drink. Decorations never go up until about 2 weeks before Christmas and must stay up through New Years. etc, etc. sjvonfumetti at yahoo dot com

We didn't have a lot of extra money when I was growing up, so my Mother always made Spicy Christmas Popcorn as a special treat at Christmas. It has chill powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and oregano in it and is delicious. I always made it for my kids when they were growing up, and we still make it every Christmas. Thanks!

I love making the red and green construction paper chains every year with my kiddos!
We do a special day of shopping for a family that needs a little help this time of year, it's a gift for them, but an even bigger one for us.
I bake dozens of fancy Christmas cookies. For my elderly friends/relatives I give them a box of cookies wrapped in little cellophane packages of 2 or 3. That way the box stays fresh and lasts them a few weeks – they love it!
I guess my favorite tradition is decorating the CHristmas tree, which usually takes two or three days.

I love to make Christmas special in every way possible. I love baking cookies and I love making handcrafted gifts for friends and family!
As a child growing up in the 50s, the Sears catalog was a really big thing at Christmas. Among other items, I fantasized about the little gingerbread house kits that they sold. They weren't considered a necessity in my family so I never had one. As a young mother, I decided to remedy that situation by building a candy house from Better Homes and Gardens Christmas (the year was 1973 but the issue probably was from many years earlier). Their house was built of plywood (!!!!) and entirely frosted and candied. Being lazy and cheap, I substituted styrafoam and it worked perfectly. I kept that house for years and carried it on my lap when we moved across the state. When my children were old enough to participate, I built and frosted little houses for them and they applied the candy. We didn't do new ones every year because they would last for ages but we did them often. My daughter's birthday was in late November and we sometimes had a friend over to celebrate and they would make houses. We moved now and then and continued inviting friends to join us, scattering candy houses across the land. When we became the owners of the "most beautiful home ever", I built a replica and that house was used for several decades, getting fresh icing from time to time. Now I am continuing this tradition with my grandsons. I couldn't begin to count the number of houses made in states from Iowa to Maryland by many people all stemming from the longing of one silly little girl for a Sears catalog gingerbread house.
I like any kind of Christmas baking. I like to make peanut butter blossom cookies the most. Thanks for the giveaway!
We acquire a different Christmas tree ornament for our daughter each year, so when she is out on her own, she will have a tree with lots of different memorizes. hikergirl3@aol.com

My husband's favorite grandmother used to bake insane amounts of cookies and send home every person in her family home with a tin of cookies. There were always at least ten to 15 different varieties. When my husband's grandmother passed away, I collected all of her cookie recipes. Now, I bake cookies (not nearly as many as she did) and I send them out to the family during the Christmas season. I know that mine are not the same, but I believe it keeps her spirit that much more alive in their hearts.
I have my mom's recipe box and love making he Christmas candy.

All of my Christmas ornaments are gift, souveniers or hand made so we love decorating the tree and remembering how each ornament came to us, the people we got them from, the vacation we took or just the fun I had making them. So of course decorating the tree and taking that "trip down memory lane" is my favorite part of Christmas. Swakins@aol.com
I learned to bake a traditional French Buche de Noel cake (Yule log) in my French class in high school over 25 years ago. It has become a tradition that I have done every year since. Deliarose1975@yahoo.com
I make a 6-cheese macaroni dish that is artery cloghing good. My family will not let this holiday season go by without my making it.
Also our tradition for the last 30 years is to have a family and friends holiday dinner about a week before Christmas. It is potluck, we rent a hall now, but we play games to win prizes. Everyone is waiting for this moment. We played bingo most of those years but last year I changed it to trivia so all of the little ones could fully participate. The prizes are a combination of handmade and store bought with no gift to be over $7. It is a blast and an event that everyone waits with anticipation for evey year.
