It’s finally my turn! Have you been following along on the blog hop to see what all the different designers thought of Judy Gauthier’s new book “Quilts for Scrap Lovers”?
I have to say I LOVE this book! Judy is so clever on how she organizes, cuts and pieces back together her scraps. I’m by far an expert quilter and this just goes to prove it! I started by just glancing through the book so I could figure out which project caught my fancy. Let’s just say – there are THREE different house patterns in this book – I LOVE HOUSE BLOCKS! (I’m trying to contain my capitalization usage but I just can’t help it). My initial plan was to make a quilt top pieced with all three of the house blocks … and that may still happen but I have to admit I was completely hooked with the “House Divided” Pattern.
It wasn’t long before I had six blocks made up … I definitely couldn’t stop there.
I now have twelve blocks with no intention of stopping anytime soon! It’s a fun pattern with clever cutting instructions that makes these great blocks AND uses up my scraps! Now, as I cut fabric out for other projects I’m also cutting the size blocks I need to make more of these. I can see this little project growing and growing and growing!

I cut my scraps into squares, then use them as squares or make half square triangles. I just heard Judy speak. She is very clever. I love her quilts.
My scraps are out of control and I have just started thinking of scrappy quilt ideas. I have finished sewing together one scrappy quilt top. I sewed 2" strips end to end and made that into a quilt. I plan to embroidery flowers randomly all over the top.
Haven't decided what quilt to make with my scrap collection. Need to find something soon!
I like the MSQC wonky star pattern for using up scraps.
My favorite is a scrappy pinwheel on a white background as they always look great and whimsical! I would love this book!
These are such cute blocks. I love scrappy hst's. you can make so many designs with them. Thanks for the giveaway.
I love scrappy quilts and have made a lot of them. My favorite block for this is pinwheel but if I happen to have a lot of scraps in contrasting color families I do love a scrappy log cabin! This book looks wonderfully inspiring with lots of new ideas and designs! Thanks! cotten.gloria@gmail.com
I have so many scraps that I'll never get them used and I just keep making more. I use as many as I can for HST's, nine patches and string quilts.
I've been trying to do that "cut them into 2.5" strips" thing so I can randomly make a strip quilt of some kind. I have not done so yet. Lol.
The last scrappy quilt I made was a 16-patch made of 2.5" squares.
I am a new quilter, but have become very interested in scrap quilting lately. Can't wait to try this
I love scrappy quilts and seem to have made a lot, but still have lots of scraps.
Log cabins. I've made lots of them from scraps and I love that there are many options for the blocks and the layouts. No two log cabin quilts need to be alike! Judy's book has been on my wish list since I first saw it, love new sources of scrap quilt inspiration!
Simple strip quilts, Quick and Easy! Book looks marvelous!
Twelve inch string blocks on muslin is a quick go to for me. I really like the this house block and can see how addictive they could be.
My go-to pattern is a scrappy log cabin, with totally random color placement. I love your houses Kim! Thanks for the giveaway!
Postage stamp and log cabin!
I have a scrappy log cabin that I really love! Your houses look great! This sounds like a lovely book! mumbird3(at)gmail(dot)com
If the scraps are big enough, I like to sew them into half square triangles because they can be used in so many different ways!
I like log cabin blocks for scrap quilts. They are fun, colorful and usually turn out nearly square.
I have many many scraps, oh to use them up would really be something!
String blocks and half square triangles are my favourite scrap blocks. I can sew the string blocks for hours.
I love making scrappy quilts. I use a lot of HST's and squares. My go-to pattern is a scrappy stars pattern. Thank you for the giveaway.
The scrap quilts I've sewn in the past were strong quilts.
I am constructing two postage stamp quilts (which I love) and I have made several string quilts and several bar quilts which I love too. I have made some St. Louis 16 patch quilts from scraps and some patchwork quilts from scraps. Not sure which one I would call my go to scrap pattern because I love so many.

I also like string scrap quilts. I Like nine patch blocks, log cabin blocks. Love Scrappy Quilts.
So far all I've tried is string blocks. I would love to make a log cabin quilt, or try your cute house block.
I need a go-to pattern for scrappiness. I tend to pick something too fussy so I haven't made the same one twice. Thanks for the chance! LaunderedCotton at gmail dot com
I think it would be a Granny Square or a Log Cabin. Both are great scrap blocks. Love house blocks too.
I don't really have a go to pattern. I do sew strips of random scraps together when I'm between projects – or putting off basting or binding (as that part isn't easy for me to do yet). Last year for the rainbow scrap challenge I made slab blocks of each color. Thanks for the chance!
I need a go to pattern! Thanks for the giveaway. tljeo(at)yahoo(dot)com
I don't know that I have a go-to pattern. Mostly I look at patterns and think about whether they can accommodate scraps. Last year I made a crayon quilt out of scraps. The year before a star quilt. I've also made varying sized strips on the diagonal. Thank you for reviewing another great book.
As a descendant of pioneers in this area I was raised to never throw anything out. My scraps were used for applique when mending my children's clothes but now they are grown and gone. I would love this book for the inspiration to start making quilts for the grandchildren.
I find myself making string blocks, like my grandmother made. I also like to make 4 patches. I would enjoy this book, I'm sure. Thanks for the chance to win.

Since there are only so many quilts I can make in my lifetime, I try to make a new pattern each time. This goes for my scrap quilts as well. When I can't think straight, I will often take scraps not yet cut into various sizes for my bins, I will do improv slab blocks and then use those in different ways. nl@ridder.ca
So sad this is ending. I've not been on blogs before. It's time. So much inspiration. I love Judy, Judy's shop, and Judy's book.
I don't have a specific go to pattern, but if I had to choose one, it would be a scrappy 9 patch.
I don't have a 'go to' pattern but I have go to blocks like 4-patches that I sew constantly and then look for quilts that use these blocks. So, this book could give me ideas for a new go to block to make as I sew other projects. sjvonfumetti at yahoo dot com
Like the above two commenters, I don't have a particular go to pattern. I like so many different kinds of scrappy! Thanks for the chance to win this book-it looks wonderful.

I've never made a scrappy quilt (unless you count the Splendid Sampler). Love how your House Divided is turning out. Does a fat quarter bundle count as scraps? I have one that has 19 FQs and I think this pattern would look great. Thanks for a chance for this book. grinnie1961 at gmail dot com
I like all things scrappy! This book would be a great help in using up all my scraps!
