Holiday Wishes Blog Hop and a Giveaway

July 6, 2016 by persimondreams 82 Comments

I’m happy today to finally be able to show off a quilt I’ve been working on for the last two months andcould only show you little “peeks” at.  I’m so terrible at secrets and it’s time to spill! Holiday-Wishes-Header The Fat Quarter Shop sent me a copy of Sheri Falls new book “Holiday Wishes” and I made a project from it.  I chose the “Let it Snow” project but I decided to make mine in unconventional fabrics – pink and orange! Let it Snow Quilt My oldest daughter, Cedi, has a birthday at the end of November and this quilt is going to be for her … so I made snowmen and snowflakes in her favorite colors.  I know it’s not traditional but I’m so happy with how it turned out and the best thing was seeing Cedi’s face when she saw it all pieced together!  Let it Snow Quilt Overall The quilt isn’t JUST pink and orange fabrics though … I found six different fun “text” themed prints for the snowmen. Let it Snow Quilt love snowman I used an aqua stripe for the sashing and cornerstones and a white/grey fabric for the border.  I think I’m going to ask my long arm quilter to quilt snowflakes in an all over pattern for this quilt. How would you quilt it? Let it Snow Quilt stained glass look Another great thing is I’m already done with a holiday gift (well … close enough, I have to bind and add the faces … but so closer than I would be if I waited until November to start)!  It’s never too early to get started on your holiday projects so the actual holidays aren’t quite as stressful and “Let it Snow” is a book full of great projects! Let is Snow Quilt in the Wild

Giveaway!

Now what’s this you heard about a giveaway?  Holiday Wishes Book If you want to win your very own copy of “Holiday Wishes” book here’s what you have to do (and I have three to giveaway so the odds are in your favor!)

The rules: (two ways to enter and WIN!)

  1. Leave a comment on my blog answering the question “What are your favorite handmade gifts to give during the holidays?”
  2. Go to my instagram feed and follow me: @PersimonDreams  While you’re there like the giveaway post and leave a comment tagging two people you think would like to join in on the giveaway.

Two winners will be selected from the blog comments and one winner from the instagram comments so be sure to both! The giveaway will close at Midnight, CST on Sunday, July 10th. ~~~ There are many other bloggers that are sharing their projects with you from the “Holiday Wishes” book this month!  Head over to the Fat Quarter Shop’s blog to see what else folks are making! And keep an eye on my instagram this month … I’ll be working on the great sampler blocks from the book through July.  Let is Snow Quilt in the Wind

I like to do small projects, like table runners. If the recipient is well known to me, I 'll do one for a specific spot in their home, if not (or if I've done one before) I'll do something holiday themed.

Once upon a time, it used to be cookies. That was before I had kids and a husband that like to eat the raw dough before I can bake it and, if I can manage to get it in the oven, they can eat them faster than I can bake them. Last year my Dad was tickled with a the Christmas table runners that I made for him, so that is going to be my favorite for a while!
