Happy April 11th! The 11th of the month means it’s time to vote for your favorite block made for this months Modern Quilts Unlimited block challenge. I was completely clueless on what to do with the challenge of airplanes and sailboats. I decided to go Ricky Tims’ caveman style for this one. With caveman style you just take your fabric and cut the shape you want with your rotary cutter (no ruler). The creates a fun wonky-ness you don’t get with straight lines. For my sailboat (aka junk) block I layered three fabrics from Michael Miller, caveman style cut out the shape and then sewed it all back together. See a slideshow of the process here. To get to the 12.5” minimum I added a border. While I would love for you to vote for mine I’ll be the first to say that there are many others that are much more creative and cool. So what I’m going to ask is that you head over to the page and pick the block that is your favorite. ~~~ #ad
