The seventh season of Project QUILTING has come to an end. It’s a bittersweet moment for me … I love the challenge and community Project QUILTING creates. But … I am ready to go back to just sewing without a bunch of deadlines. Six challenges seems like the perfect number! 282 quilts were completed during the seventh season of Project QUILTING. This brings the total of quilts created for regular season Project QUILTING Challenges since its inception in 2010 to … drum roll please …
1,489 quilts!
That number is HUGE! Definitely something we can all be proud of – wow!!!! I wasn’t the best at keeping track of locations this year … but I know some of my stats went up for sure. (I’ll update these as a I collect more data.) Folks from 42 different states, 5 provinces in Canada, and 10 other countries have participated in at least one Project QUILTING Challenge from the beginning. Today I’m going to announce the Grand Prize Winner. In order to entered into the hat for this prize you had to complete at least one challenge per the guidelines during season 7. If you participated in all six challenges your name was added into the hat an extra time. 18 people completed all six challenges this season! There were a lot of names in the hat!!! Before I reveal the winner … let’s check out the prizes!
- $100 gift certificate for the Fat Quarter Shop to be given as part of the Grand Prize
- From Aurifil – a Large Spool Designer Collection Box! Woot! Woot!
- From Marcia’s Crafty Sewing & Quilting.
“Quilting Gift Certificate” for $50.00 off the Quilting on a Baby size quilt or larger. (Baby, Lap, Twin. Full, Queen, or King) from Marcia’s Crafty Sewing & Quilting for the Grand Prize!!!!
The Gift Certificate will be good for 4 months starting one month after the challenge ends. Excluding the Month of December for using the gift certificate. The quilting gift certificate is transferable to another person, so you can share it with a friend, if you’d like.
Marcia will do an estimate based on the size of the winner’s quilt top, quilting choices, thread choices, and batting and if they would like to purchase backing fabric from me. Winner can send backing fabric and batting with their quilt top, but I do have it available. This way the winner will have a good estimate of the value of your quilting prize.
- And for the grand prize – a Quilt Dots jewelry collection! (bracelet, necklace and key chain bases) These are great for you to show off your Quilt Dots – and you can change your look as often as you want!
It was decided that Capri would do the final winner drawing … with the keen eye of Pip watching. She mixed things up really, really good before she finally selected the grand prize winner! They all wanted to get into the picture of the final winner … Congratulations to Charlene Waggoner!!!!!!!!! Your mailbox will be full of amazing goodies soon!!!!

Oh my goodness! What an unexpected treat. Thank you so much and thank you so very much for hosting Project Quilting. I look forward to the challenges every year. And many thanks to the Diabolical Diane for her prompts! The quilts produced are always an inspiration. I am continually amazed at the talent behind them. I am as much of a fanatic for making these quilts as my schedule permits. I WILL Get them all next year!
