All this week Amy Ellis of Amy’s Creative Side is hosting the #IGQuiltFest (aka, Instagram Quilt Festival). Typically Amy hosts two Blogger’s Quilt Festivals – one in the spring and one in the fall – right around Quilt Market. As I get farther into the industry I can’t imagine how she manages to have a successful Quilt Market and host a mind blowing online Blogger’s Quilt Festival. TO see that she’s making a some tweaks to this all is completely understandable. To see how things are changing check this post out. In the meantime, I’m going to embrace the chance and enjoy getting to meet new folks during the #IGQuiltFest! Each Day this week there is a prompt for what quilts we should share. Today (M – Monday) is Finally Finished! I pulled one out of the vault for my finally finished quilt. I chose to share my "woven wonder" quilt for the #igquiltfest #finallyfinished prompt. It took me a 5 year period to finish this quilt. When I first started quilting I absolutely hated taking the time to match corners in quilt blocks so I decided to weave a quilt to avoid them. First I hand dyed a lot of fabric. Then Barb Raisbeck of Quilts by Barb quilted it for me. Next I cut the fabric into strips and bound the long sides (one side by machine, the other side hand-stitched down). Then I wove all the strips together. Each intersection had to be tacked down once everything was square and even. Finally I bound around all sides of the quilt.
Lesson learned: it’s way easier to just take the time to match your corners.

Specifically that algorithms are being implemented. You will soon see only what Instagram "thinks" you want to see. Therefore, if you follow folks and want to SEE their posts, it’s a good idea to get on there and like and comment. I have included my instagram at the bottom of this post – please head over to like and share some of my quilty photo’s so you help ensure that I stay in your feed. Add your instagram to the comments and I will do the same for you! Let’s make this algorithm work FOR us instead of against us!www.Instagram.com/persimondreams
