I have had this quilt finished since the end of November but I just haven’t had time to share it with you. My initial pictures were not in the right light so I had to find some decent, not overcast, not rainy, not snowy weather to take some pictures – which I finally did on Christmas Eve! This quilt is what I came up with for the Modern Quilt Guild’s Michael Miller Glitz Fabric challenge. I combined it with a homework lesson for a class I’m taking tha thad to do with symetry. You can never have too much metallic in your fabrics!I brought the quilt to Mindy Skinner of Stitches by Mindy in Lodi, WI to do the quilting. She did a great job putting on a large orange peel design that mimiced the design in some of the fabric in the quilt. I asked her to do big quilting because I went back in with my own home machine and added more detailed quilting in some of orange peel sections. Here you can see some pebbled quilting that I added. I just love the texture of this quilt! Here you can see multiple designs that I free motion quilted into the orange peel. This is one of my favorite places in teh quilt with aht fun wiggly line filling in the peels. This was the first time I’ve purposely had big quilting done so I could add with my own machine. I will definitely do it again! The first layer of quilting acted like basting in a way and made handling the quilting in my sit down machine so much easier. This was a fun quilt with lots of new techniques and ideas attempted. Linking up to Finish It up Friday

I love what you have done with the Challenge fabric. The black and whites are playing so nicely together…

Love the fabric and I like that you went back and played with it some more after it was quilted.
