for the holidays it is usually all about baking for me — cookies and breads. one of my LQS does a cookie tasting and recipe swap each year and it is always so much fun.

Hubs and I break out the origami and make paper balls as well.

Lovely giveaway 🙂 My favorite tradition is making cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning. I make them the day before, and set them in the fridge to rise, then pop them in the oven Christmas morning. Thanks for the giveaway, Merry Christmas! homesteadmom3 @ gmail dot com

I am off for two weeks at Christmas each year, and I call it "finish all the things" time. "In progress" quilting projects tend to pile up when you work 50 hours a week. Those two weeks are so much fun – quilting and sewing and crafting away.

I try and make something homemade for Christmas presents. This year I am making a Holiday Cookie Mix Gift Bag. It is a tutorial that I found on the Internet and it is so easy to do. Thank you for being a part of the Sew Mama Sew Giveaway and giving all of us the chance to win your generous bundle of your own fat quarters along with the red Aurifil thread. I love the color red and have never had the chance to quilt using Aurifil yet. Happy Holidays to you. I enjoy your blog so much and have learned so much from you.

Every Christmas, I basically frantically try to craft all the things for all friends and family members. It is such a crazy time!! I start off with the ambitious goal of knitting something for everyone, but quickly start sewing things for people because it is faster. Alas, I often resort to buying things for the last few people on my list at the last minute. That's a tradition, right?

We have so many traditions in our family and I love them all; from opening new PJs and a new Christmas ornament on Christmas eve, baking cookies with my granddaughter, making pumpkin and banana bread for breakfast to going and cutting down our own Christmas tree. I just love the holidays and spending time with the family.

We have quite a few family traditions for Christmas. From our 7 fishes dinner on Christmas Eve, to waking at the crack of dawn to start visiting our grandkids to watch them open Santa's surprises, to everyone back to our house at night for dinner and gift exchange – grandkids do a "pollianna" at Thanksgiving and must make something for their special recipient – from the now 5 year old on up to the now 18 year olds! Thanks so much for the great giveaway! 🙂

I bake the cookies for the WHOLE family. Lots and lots of cookies. Usually chocolate chip, peanut butter and oatmeal raisin. This year, my aunt that doesn't like raisins will be there so I will make some oatmeal cookies without the raisins for her.

My daughter is two, so holiday crafting traditions are new for us. And I have only been quilting 2.5 years, so my holiday crafting has mostly just been a rush to finish up Christmas gifts the last few years, and nothing before that unless you count the scratch-made lemon meringue pie my mother always requests. This year though, we made cookies for the first time. It was fantastic! Hugely messy, but fantastic. She spent the next day with her Nana and when she came she immediately pulled a chair over to the kitchen counter and climbed up and started saying "make cookies! make cookies!" and has been asking to make cookies again ever since.

It's all about the baking. Now that the kids are married this might happen before or after Christmas but we always manage to make our favorite recipes. Now with the grandkids we have added the decorating of gingerbread houses with Grandpa. We buy extra candy and make extra icing so there is plenty to go around. Even with all of your reminders I forgot the email address the first time 🙂 fraudonnaherr@gmail.com

Ever since we moved to our small, rural town eleven years ago, I have been making Christmas cookies and taking them to the people who made our transition easier and made this feel more like home: the friendly people at the Post Office, the kind folks at Valley Vet who lovingly care for our animals, the guys at the PUD who restore our power during winter storms. This is a Christmas tradition I truly enjoy, and one year when I broke my foot and ankle and was unable to bake on crutches I learned that other people look forward to it as well.

I have too many to count. One of my favorites when my son was younger was to cut out 24 construction paper christmas trees which I decorated with glitter glue. I write a different christmas activity on the back of each. things from getting a peppermint ice cream cone, to watching the grinch that stole christmas to making christmas cookies. I would then number them from 1-24 and hang them across the mantle. each day we would do that day's activity. Great fun! momweaverathotmaildotcom

Every year we like take an afternoon to make ornaments–this year it will be felt stars with lots of glitter. If the grandgirls are anything like their parents, as they get older, the ornaments will become more sophisticated, but while they're little, you can't beat glitter for immediate gratification. Especially if you follow the creative activity with a mug of hot chocolate.

I began making a small gingerbread house in the 70's when our daughter was in pre-school. They're 5×8 from real gingerbread with royal icing and candy decorations and melted lifesaver windows. I made them for us as well as her teachers and bus driver. After she grew up, I continued making them with friends' and neighbors' kids. Our daughter is grown and has been making them with her girlfriends and now more recently with our granddaughter and the girlfriends' children. The tradition goes on – I luv it!
