Happy Sunday everyone! My parents snagged my kids on Friday for a few days so I’ve been busy sewing my heart out. It’s been great. Yesterday was the first day of the Winter Wonderland Sew Along with Sherri Falls of This & That Patterns over at the Fat Quarter Shop, or as they are calling it, a #verysherrichristmas. The Fat Quarter shop recently sold out of kits but you can still download the fabric requirements here so you can pick up your favorite Christmas fabrics to get started. You have to buy the book though to get the instructions to the block so be sure to grab yours ASAP! We’ll be making two blocks a week so in just six short weeks you’ll have all the blocks you need to make this adorable quilt! I couldn’t resist joining in the fun … here are my first two blocks: This was my initial fabric pull for my version of the quilt. I soon realized I would need to pull more varieties of colors as I worked on the blocks but I’ll just mix those right in to this stack. Here’s my version of the tree block. I just love how this fabric from Tula Pink makes such a fun effect on the tree! It’s hard to see in pictures but both of the white you see that I’m using are either silver or gold sparkly fairy frost fabrics from Michael Miller. Be sure to stop and check out Emily Ann’s Closets version as well! I am so in love with this Scotty Dog pattern! Sherri breaks it down into a very doable block that is super adorable to boot! Visit this blog page to see the complete schedule for the Sew Along (yes – you’ll recognize at least one name!), and don’t forget to share your Winter Wonderland creations with us using #verysherrichristmas on Instagram, Facebook, & Twitter.
