It’s hard to believe that we’re just three 30” block layouts away from completing a fabulous fun #scrappycrownalong quilt! I hope you’ve been enjoying playing with your scraps as much as I am. One thing I love about doing these blocks is the fun I have in putting three random fabrics together and seeing how they look when sewn into a block! Now let’s get to it – let’s check out layout 10! Nine Patch Tutorial Before we get to the layout – let’s check another alternative block option for the 5” Crown of Thorns block – a nine patch.
Fabric 1 (grey) 4 – 2” x 2”
1 – 2.5” 2.5” Fabric 2 (light blue) 4 – 2.5” x 2”
Sew the center blocks to the blocks on the left. Press towards the darker fabric. Sew the right squares to the pairs on the left. Press towards the darker fabric. Sew the top row to the middle row. Press towards the top. Sew the bottom row to the top two. Press towards the bottom! Your 5” nine patch is complete! It’s time to share with you the plan for the 10th #scrappycrownalong layout. To make this block – you need to make
- 4 – 10” Crown of Thorn Blocks
- 20 – 5” Crown of Thorn Blocks
Here are the first ten 30” block layouts in EQ7. I can’t believe how close we are! I’m happy to report that I’ve caught up on my blocks. This is what my Layout 9 looks like. And here’s what my Layout 10 looks like. And finally – here’s what my blocks look like all laid out so far! How cool is this!? Please use #scrappycrownalong to share your photo’s!
Also – join in the #scrappycrownalong flickr group and share your progress photo’s there! I’ll be posting Layout 11 on Thursday – see you soon!
