I’m super excited to once again be the host of TGIFF! (Thank Goodness it’s FINISHED Friday!). When I signed up for this Friday I figured I’d have a Project QUILTNG Piece to share with you all but it turns out it was an off week for the challenges (the next challenge goes up on Sunday) which meant I actually had to finish something else. I have quite a few projects that are WIPs right now but I wanted to show you more than just some completed blocks.
So – I pulled out the mini quilt ‘Flurry’ I made using the free pattern from the Aurifil Monthly Designer features. This one was designed by the talented Gudrun Erla. It’s one of those little quilts that I have piles of tops that just aren’t finished. I decided it was time to quilt this little guy! Of course I had to use the fabulous aurifil thread to quilt this guy! I chose a fun orange-esque color 2228 for my quilting. I liked how it would accent the turquoises, blues and silvers that are dominant in the quilt. I had a lot of fun using my free motion foot on my Bernina to quilt this little guy! The center is just so much fun! And I did this cool rain drop type thing in the corners. Do you like to free motion quilt? I find that practicing on these little guys helps me hone my skills and gain confidence. Before I knew it the quilting was done! I have a secret … this can be a little table topper if you like – but I finished this with a pillow case back. If you’d prefer – it can be an adorable pillow to add to your home! (I need a bigger pillow insert but for lack of time I had to make do with one that was slightly too small …) One can never have too many pillows. I’m not sure if my husband agrees but my kids definitely do! Now it’s your turn! What did you finish this week? Link up below and be sure to try to visit a few other posts and leave a comment!

What a great pillow! I love that you used red thread…I don't think I'm that brave! This is the year I'm trying to do more FMQ and small projects are great for learning! Much easier to manage!

You're so right that practicing on small projects gives confidence to tackle the bigger ones. I practiced FMQing on a set of placemats to gain confidence to do the hearts and loops fmqing on the Paper Pinwheel quilts that I linked up today. And thanks for hosting the link TGIFF. It's fun to see what others have been working on.

I love the texture that your quilting adds! I agree you can never have too many cushions and funnily my husband doesn't think the same either 😉

I really love your pillow, the colours, quilting and all. I've started many pillows, but never finish them.
