I just love Edyta Sitar and when I saw that her and the Fat Quarter shop were having a challenge – I was in! Here’s what I came up with for the ‘Hearts Content’ Challenge. I use Edyta’s mini charm pack for the letters L O V E and then I used a fabric from Michael Miller for the background. I love mixing unexpected fabric combinations and I am really happy with how the classic-ness of Edyta’s line mixed with the funkiness of the pink, white and gold dahlia’s. I used two different colors of aurifil thread for the quilting and went a bit crazy! I had fun doing a hearts and swirl –esque design from Leah Day’s quilting book. It just seemed perfect for my little Valentine table topper. Part of the challenge was to come up with a fun applique for our quilt. I did a few. First – I did three ‘XO’’s down the middle of the ‘O’. Each of these pairs represents my three little ladies. I also love this because every time they put XO on something or someone writes it to them they giggle because “It means hugs and KISSES momma!” In the upper right corner I have a fun little split heart appliqued. One side is me and and the other is Jared – so sweet right!? I am in ‘love’ with my new little LOVE table topper!
