I made this quilt for the off season Project QUILTING Challenge – Baby It’s Cold Outside. I LOVE Christmas trees and have a little collection that I put up every year at the holidays. I knew I had to make a fun little tree quilt for the challenge. The white background represents the snow we SHOULD have covering the ground here in Wisconsin.
Each tree is wonky and fun.
Vertical straight line quilting added another fun dimension of texture to this piece.
The vertical lines are not all evenly spaced and I used three different colors of aurifil thread 22892 (darker green), 1147 (lime green) and 2250 (poppy red).
Approximate Dimensions: 17.5" x 26"
Created in Poynette, WI Do you like this quilt? It was inspired by Amy Smart’s of ‘A Diary of a Quilter’ – Patchwork Tree block tutorial. I have two more Christmas-type mini quilts to quilt up … I’m hoping I don’t loose my motivation now that the holiday is over …
Do not loose youre concentration!!! Your quilt is so beaytiful.I love the fabrics and design.
Happy New Year!!
Your trees are lovely! I;m sure you'll have the motivation to finish your other Christmasy quilts. You always do beautiful work, and that should be plenty enough to keep you going. Or maybe we'll all get some snow soon (none here either) and that will keep you motivated to work on them.
I love that you used the different colours in the straight line quilting. Definitely an idea I will file in my brain. Beautiful quilt!
Oh! Those *are* little trees! Love this fun mini.
