The Gypsy Wife Quilt

December 26, 2014 by persimondreams 14 Comments

At the beginning of this month – I made my December ‘A Lovely Year of Finishes’ Goal to finish my Gypsy Wife Quilt Top.  My ButtonIMG_6647I surpassed my goal!  Not only did I finish the quilt top, but Barb Raisbeck of Quilts by Barb quilted it and I got it bound!  The whole quilt is FINISHED!IMG_6651It was actually a lovely day this morning so my daughter, Cedi and I hiked up to the deer fence to do a quick little mini photo shoot of the finished quilt.  IMG_6657 You can really see the quilting in this shot.  Barb chose to do long vertical lines that sort of wave there way down the quilt.  It creates a really cool illusion and texture to the piece. When I started this quilt a few months ago I actually did an initial fabric pull to use in two different quilts – the Gypsy Wife of course, but also my Nested Churn Dash.  IMG_6671Here they both are side by side to show you just how different quilts can look even when they start in the same place.  IMG_6697 This was a fun quilt to make.  IMG_6679

Beautiful quilts and beautiful setting!! When I saw the thumbnail of your gypsy wife quilt, I thought that the lower part looked like ribbons. Lovely.
