A Mug and Friendship Tea–Holiday Gift Ideas

December 16, 2014 by persimondreams 1 Comment

I realized this weekend I had nothing planned for the girls’ teachers gifts this year.  I like to really think of something special and neat for folks so I put my thinking cap on.  Considering how crafty I am – I make shockingly few gifts to give.  Don’t get me wrong – I buy a lot of handmade/locally made products for gifts but I can never seem to get focused to make anything myself.  I’m turning over a new leaf and this year I’m making the teacher’s a little something (hopefully they don’t read my blog…).  Supplies: IMG_6323

  • Lemonade (pink or regular … I like pink for the color)
  • Tang
  • Iced Tea
  • Cloves
  • Cinnamon

IMG_6325

  • Jars with lid and ring – I found these adorable squatty half pint jars but you can use whatever jar you’d like
  • charm squares of fabric (5” square)
  • ribbon
  • printed gift tag

Friendship Tea

1 C Instant Tea
2 C tang
2 pkgs of presweetened lemonade (if unsweetened add 1 cup sugar)
1 tsp cloves
1 tsp cinnamon

Mix together and store in covered jar.

Use 1 heaping tsp or more to 1 cup boiling/hot water.

Mix up the ingredients in the Friendship Tea recipe above into a big bowl or container.  Make sure all the ingredients are stirred and mixed really nicely. IMG_6329Now take one of your jars. IMG_6331 Fill it with the tea powder mixture.  I found that I can fit about 12 servings of tea in the jar. IMG_6332 Place the metal canning lid on and then put the 5” charm square. IMG_6333 Tighten the ring over the fabric.  How cute is that!? IMG_6334 With the ribbon tie the little label you made to go with the Friendship Tea gift.  My label says …

Use 2 heaping tsp. or more to one full Lapacek’s Orchard mug of hot/boiling water. Stir and enjoy! “There is nothing better than a friend, unless it is a friend with chocolate” – Linda Grayson

IMG_6335 You guessed it!  The tag gave it away – I’m paring the jar of tea with a handcrafted mug from our orchard!  What teacher wouldn’t love this!? Are you making any cute little handmade gifts for teachers or others this year? I’d love to hear about them!

I make the spice tea recipe every year to give to family and friends as gifts. Everyone loves it. Enjoy a cup for yourself also.
