Wow! What a weekend! We had a LOT going on around the orchard this weekend! On Saturday morning, my mother-in-law, Diane, taught a mini fabric dyeing class to some members of our local quilt guild. It was a great way to start the weekend AND I dyeing about 20 yards of fabric to boot! I also started the fourth color on the barn quilts! That’s the final color for one…still one more color to go for the other. On Saturday night, we headed over to the Grand Opening of our cousins’ winery – Rock N Wool Winery. It was a successful opening and the wine tasted pretty good too. Our girls were thrilled because they got to drink a soda…a very rare occurrence. I started a new project in our orchard. We have an awning without a cover – so I’m weaving/braiding/knotting scraps of fabrics to make a fun and whimsical one! This is how far I am so far…it’s a pretty wide awning and is definitely going to take me some time. Hopefully it looks super cool when it’s all done.I decided to make a ‘mini’ quilt just like the Ohio Star barn quilt I’m painting. This quilt will finish at 24” x 24”. I always forget just how dramatic solids can be – so loving this. Now I just have to quilt it! While I was in my work room I started two other quilts while I was there – I’ll be blogging about it next week so stop by and see what I’m working on next. The big finish for this weekend was the ‘Very Hungry Caterpillar’ quilt I made for Capri’s teacher – it’s finished! I had my camera in the wrong setting when I took this picture but I still really like it. Here’s a better view of the quilt. I’ll be posting more details and info on how I put it all together later this week also! And now – I am definitely ready for bed! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you had a great weekend too!

Oh I love it all! Patriotic Ohio Star: yes please!
And Very Hungry is adorable! I got the Fons and Porter Brown Bear kit from a few years ago, and dipped into it to make a teacher quilt for my son's preschool teacher. Yikes–I need to replace what I took and make that quilt! Eric Carle is awesome.
