I’m a little delayed today getting the tutorial posted for the 52 Blocks Twisted Traditional Quilt Along! Sorry about that – but I am at least getting it posted on Wednesday! It’s a pretty simple block this week but fabric selection, once again, makes all the difference in what you ‘see’ when you look at it!
Triangle of Spools Block Tutorial for
52 Twisted Traditional Block Quilt Along
Finished Block Size – 8” x 8”
I twisted the traditional block ‘Triangle of Squares”, 1187b, for our next block. By now you know I have a thing for spools of thread so I figured this is another fun option
Fabric B (light pink) 2 – 4 1/2” squares
Fabric C (striped (color of your thread)) 4 – 2.5” squares
Fabric D (light purple – I would go with something blends well with Fabric B) 4 – 2” squares
Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of the 8 squares of Fabric C and Fabric D.
Lay out one of each Fabric C and Fabric D onto both of Fabric A squares as shown above. Right sides together.
Lay out one of each Fabric C and Fabric D onto both of Fabric B squares as shown above. Right sides together.
Stitch along the diagonal lines.
Do this on all four blocks.
Trim the outer corners off. Iron the corners outward to make a new 4.5” square.
Layout your four blocks in the orientation I show above. Sew them together to make your block.
And there you have it – the Triangle of Spools Block is done! Thanks for following along and I hope you enjoyed this block tutorial!
