Project QUILTING Season 5, Challenge 6–Triangles

March 16, 2014 by persimondreams 2 Comments

It’s with a heavy heart that I’m posting the final challenge for Season 5 of Project QUILTING.  I can’t believe how fast this season has gone.  I have met lots of new quilters from all over the world and rekindled friendships with past participants.  195 amazing quilts have been made for the first 5 challenges.  Please help me spread the word to everyone you know about this FINAL Season 5 challenge – we need 60 participants to just TIE the Season 4 quilt total of 255 and I KNOW we can do it!
Of course – before we get to the actual challenge let’s see what this weeks prizes are!

PRIZES

$30 gift certificate redeemable towards quilting by Marcia of Marcia’s Crafty Sewing & Quilting!

Wooldand Ridge Retreat will be giving away a $50 gift certificate towards a retreat stay.

For Quilts Sake will be giving away one of these fabulous stash bags to a lucky winner!

Studio Cherie will be giving a free pattern!

Fabrics N Quilts will be donating a $20 gift certificate!

Sew BitterSweet Designs is giving a set of her 4 pack of original patterns!

Waggons West is donating a custom quilt label!

GRAND PRIZE REVIEW

I want to remind everyone too that this is the last time to get your name in the hat for the Randomly Drawn Grand Prize.  Here’s a quick review of what’s being given away to ONE lucky participant!

Every time you complete a Project QUILTING Challenge per the guidelines you’re name will be added to the drawing for the Grand Prize.  If you complete every challenge (all 6) you will get a bonus entry (maximum number of times your name will be in the drawing…7).

$50 gift certificate redeemable towards quilting by Marcia of Marcia’s Crafty Sewing & Quilting!

Bungalow Quilting and Yarn will be giving away a book with templates!

Waggons West is donating THREE custom quilt labels!

Diana of SeldomSeenQuilting is giving away her service of digitizing a photograph for embroidery!

Pat Sloan will be giving away a fabulous box of her Aurifil Thread, ‘The Perfect Box of Neutrals’ as part of this season’s grand prize!

I am so grateful for all my amazing sponsors this season!

I’ve made you wait long enough…what is the sixth and final challenge….

Triangles

  1. Your project this week must include triangles. Half square triangles, quarter square triangles, pieced triangles, appliquéd triangles, paper pieced triangles, right triangles, isosceles triangles, equilateral triangles. The possibilities are endless.
  2. Your project does not need to be a traditional quilt, but must meet at least one of these requirements:

    • Include patchwork.
    • Include appliqué.
    • Have 3 layers stitched together by hand or machine.
  3. Your project must have a name.
  4. Please remember that these projects need to be started and FINISHED during the week of the challenge.
  5. NEW NEW NEW READ!!!  Link up either a blog post or flickr image to THIS LINK UP POST by Sunday, March 23rd, 2014, at noon, CDT –OR email a picture/description of your completed project to {lapaceksorchard at gmail dot com} with PROJECT QUILTING in the subject line by 11am on Sunday, March 23rd.

    • Please still include on your blog or flickr image of your entry a description of your creative process, including where you are (ie, I create in Madison, WI) and the size of your project.  If you decide to just directly upload your image to the link up party please email me this information so I can share it with everyone else.
    • I would still love if everyone posted to the Flickr Group as that makes making mosaics and looking over things much easier, but it is no longer required.
    • There is now a ‘Challenge Quilts’ Facebook Group you can join in on to share your thoughts, questions, or whatever related to quilting challenges.  You can always post progress pictures there if you want too!
  6. Even if you’ve been participating for years… Please email Kim at {lapaceksorchard at gmail dot com} with PROJECT QUILTING in the subject line so that Kim can keep you updated on the behind the scenes going-ons and get all her records straight.

Please be sure to post your FINAL project HERE.  VERY IMPORTANT!  If you do not link up to the VOTING POST you will not be able to win the public vote prize.

With that – good luck to everyone!  Don’t forget – you can find Project QUILTING on Facebook too! And a Challenge Group if you’re want to find out about all the challenges you can in the quilting world!
